  • Publication number: 20160126806
Abstract: A bearing assembly comprising a generator for harvesting electrical energy from rotational kinetic energy. The electromagnetic induction generator includes a magnetic rotor (including a plurality of magnets arranged with alternating polarities along a rotor periphery) and a stator having a coil. The generator is mounted to a first part of the assembly, which is rotatable about the bearing axis of rotation. The magnetic rotor is rotationally supported relative to the stator and is rotatable about an axis of rotation, which is different from the bearing axis of rotation. The assembly further comprises a target surface made of an electrically conductive material provided on a second part of the bearing assembly. During operation, relative rotation takes place between the first and second parts. The rotor is arranged whereby magnetic field lines from the plurality of magnets intersect the target surface during at least part of one revolution about the bearing axis.

  • Publication number: 20160126807
Abstract: A bearing arrangement including a rotating part and a non-rotating part. The rotating part is configured to rotate relative to the non-rotating part with an essentially horizontal rotation axis. The arrangement is provided with an energy generating system, comprising at least one micro generator module. The micro generator module includes a housing, an eccentric mass mounted so as to be rotatable around an eccentric shaft in the housing, and a generator unit configured to generate electrical energy using the rotation of the eccentric shaft. The energy generating system is mounted to the rotating part of the arrangement.

  • Publication number: 20160011015
Abstract: An angle sensor is provided for determining an absolute angle signal of a first part rotated with respect to a second part. The angle sensor comprises a first grating ring for generating a first signal representative of a relative position of a first sensor along a corresponding ring segment of the first grating ring. The angle sensor further comprises a second grating ring for generating a second signal representative of a relative position of a second sensor along the corresponding ring segment of the second grating ring. The first plurality and the second plurality are co-prime numbers and a difference between the first plurality and the second plurality being larger than 1. The angle sensor also comprises a calculator configured for calculating the absolute angle signal using a first linear combination of the first signal and the second signal.

  • Patent number: 8803372
Abstract: An ironless magnetic motor includes a magnetic track and a forcer. The forcer is oriented in a magnetic field across a linear air gap of the magnetic track to generate a drive force parallel to the X drive axis and orthogonal to the Z levitation axis in response to a commutation drive current and to generate a force orthogonal to the X drive axis in response to a commutation coil current being superimposed on and phase shifted from the commutation drive current. To this end, a set of levitating turns of the coil parallel to the X drive axis and orthogonal to the Z levitation axis may be internal or external to magnetic field, and the forcer may be centered or offset from a center X-Z longitudinal axis (CP) of the linear air gap.

  • Patent number: 8248583
Abstract: In an embodiment, a stage system calibration method includes moving the stage relative to an encoder grid in response to a setpoint signal and measuring a position of the stage by a sensor head cooperating with the encoder grid. The position of the stage is controlled by a stage controller. A signal representative of a difference between the setpoint signal and the position of the stage as measured by the sensor head is registered. The stage system is calibrated from the registered signal representative of the difference.

  • Publication number: 20080246348
Abstract: A ironless magnetic motor (21-23) employs a magnetic track (30) and a forcer (40). The forcer (40) is orientated a magnetic field (?) across a linear air gap of the magnetic track (30) to generate a drive force (FX) parallel to the X drive axis and orthogonal to the Z levitation axis in response to a commutation drive current (IX) and to generate a force (FZ, FY) orthogonal to the X drive axis in response to a commutation coil current (IZ, IY) being superimposed on and phase shifted from the commutation drive current (IX). To this end, a set of levitating turns of the coil (41) parallel to the X drive axis and orthogonal to the Z levitation axis may be internal or external to magnetic field (?), and the forcer (40) may be centered or offset from a center X-Z longitudinal axis (CP) of the linear air gap.
