  • Patent number: 4265617
Abstract: An apparatus for spray drying of liquid and paste-like materials comprises a chamber for combustion of a gaseous drying medium passing therein in a pulsating flow, which chamber has an inlet pipe for feeding therein the gaseous drying medium, coaxial with the chamber. Mounted into the chamber is a pipe for injecting the liquid or paste-like materials, a portion of the pipe being disposed on the centerline of said chamber in the direction of travel of the gaseous drying medium flow. An exhaust pipe is mounted in a coaxial relationship to said chamber at the end thereof opposite to the inlet pipe for feeding the gaseous drying medium. The apparatus has also at least one shroud (baffle) in the form of a truncated cone facing by its smaller base the interior of said chamber and positioned in a coaxial relationship thereto. The first shroud in the direction of travel of the atomized material flow is positioned directly in said exhaust pipe in a spaced relationship thereto to define a gap therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4234525
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for spraying fluid and paste-like materials having a generator of pulsating flow and having an exhaust pipe arranged coaxially with one another. A perforated nozzle for retaining the material is arranged therebetween, and a pipe for feeding the material is also provided. The nozzle for retaining the material is movable along an axis extending in parallel with the axis of a passageway along which the gaseous fluid is fed, and the part of the nozzle filled with the material being sprayed is brought into the cross-section of the passageway during the pause between successive pulsations of the gaseous fluid, and the pipe for feeding the material is arranged outside the passage.

  • Patent number: 4183145
Abstract: A method of spray-drying liquid and pastelike materials which comprises atomization of liquid and pastelike materials and subjection thereof to shock wave action, atomization of the material being effected at the point of the maximum shock wave energy characteristic, i.e. amplitude and frequency. The installation for carrying said method into effect comprises a combustion chamber. According to the invention, a device for spraying the material to be dried is installed in the combustion chamber, the latter being connected with a resonance exhaust tube and separated therefrom by a screen made up of perforated elements.
