  • Publication number: 20240068749
Abstract: An air-cooled condenser system for steam condensing applications in a power plant Rankine cycle includes an air cooled condenser having a plurality of interconnected modular cooling cells. A method for forming an axial flow baffle for a shell and tube heat exchanger includes providing a baffle workpiece, locating a centerpoint of a first axial flow tube aperture, drilling flow holes around the centerpoint of the flow aperture, and drilling a central tube hole at the centerpoint. A method of cooling high level waste includes surrounding a cask comprising an external surface and an internal storage cavity containing the high level radioactive waste which emits heat with a cooling water header; and discharging cooling water radially inwards from the cooling water header onto the external surface of the cask from the plurality of water dispensing outlets arranged on the cooling water header.

  • Patent number: 7075955
Abstract: An integrated optical parametric oscillator, having an optical parametric oscillation region to convert a pump source into a signal beam and an idler beam, and a fine-steering region to adjust optical path of the signal beam in order to finely select a required wavelength component of the signal beam. The optical parametric oscillator is contoured with a plurality of exterior planes with specific reflective characteristics to form a resonator of the idler beam while reflecting and diffracting the signal beam with a desired wavelength.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 17, 2004
Date of Patent: July 11, 2006
    Assignee: Northrop Grumman Corporation

  • Patent number: 5559510
Abstract: A light unit has a strobe operated flash tube and a non-strobe peripheral lamp immediately beneath the flash tube; a switch can turn the unit off, operate either light or enable the pilot of an aircraft to signal the light unit to operate the flash tube or to turn off the flash tube and operate the non-strobe peripheral lamp, by means of a radio receiver having a local oscillator midway between two standard distress frequencies. The light unit may have infrared or other color lenses. A ribbon assists establishing a pattern of light and/or colors to mark a landing site and indicate wind direction.

  • Patent number: 4986326
Abstract: A radial tire, specially for a motorcycle, comprising a carcass reinforced by a ply radially disposed cords wrapped in each of two bead regions around an annular bead core to provide a ply turn up, a tread reinforced by a breaker assembly and between the tread edges and bead region tire sidewalls wherein each sidewall includes immediately adjacent to and outwards of the carcass ply a rubber sidewall member modulus in the range 10-20 MPa and having a upper edge positioned at the edge of the breaker and a lower edge radially inwards of the carcass ply turn up edge.

  • Patent number: 4790363
Abstract: A radial motorcycle tire comprising a ground contacting tread region reinforced between its edges by a breaker structure and having a substantially curved profile in the radial cross-section of the tire, a pair of tire beads each reinforced by a substantially inextensible bead reinforcement hoop and a tire sidewall disposed between each tread edge and bead region tire wherein each sidewall is reinforced by not more than two mutually contacting layers of carcass ply reinforcement for at least 80% of the length of the sidewall from the tread edge to the bead hoop with no other reinforcement fabric component being provided such that the said 80% or more of the sidewall is substantially flexible. The sidewall preferably contains virtually no apex strip and is also short, i.e. less than 35% of the tire sectional height (H).

  • Patent number: 4776378
Abstract: A pneumatic tire and wheelrim assembly for a motorcycle wherein the tire comprises a pair of axially spaced wheelrim engaging bead regions, a torroidal air pressure retaining carcass reinforced by a reinforced ply extending from one bead region to the other bead region, a round contacting tread which is curved in radial cross-section of the tire and which terminates adjacent to each bead region as a shoulder of the tread characterized by said shoulder having a radially inwardly facing shoulder formation and wherein the wheelrim comprises a pair of axially spaced bead seats, one for each bead region of the tire said bead seat extending axially outwardly as radially engagement positions which are complementary to the shoulder formation so that in the assembled tire and wheelrim the tread is easily located directly by the intergagement of the shoulder formations and the engagement portion.
