    Abstract: A check valve assembly installable in a valve body comprising an elastomeric hinge that includes an elastomeric member and a hinge member around which the elastomeric member can bend. The elastomeric member is coupled to the hinge member. At least one rigid valve plate is coupled to the elastomeric member. At least one layer of reinforcement material is coupled to the elastomeric member and extends at least between the hinge member and the at least one rigid valve plate. The reinforcement material is sufficiently flexible to bend over the range of movement of the elastomeric member, substantially unstretchable, and capable of resisting abrasion forces encountered while the check valve is in operation.
