    Abstract: A one-piece tri-pot universal joint housing is cold formed from a part having a shank at one end and an enlarged cylindrical head at the opposite end. The enlarged head is backward extruded to form a triangularly shaped cup which is then draw-ironed to provide a tri-lobal housing portion integrally attached to the shank.
