  • Patent number: 4367602
Abstract: Two staple-like spring metal parts designated "lock" and "key" are provided to retain an excavating tooth in a holder. The lock part slides into an opening in the holder for the tooth around a reduced diameter portion of the shank of the tooth and thereby prevents withdrawal of the tooth by interfering with the outward movement of a button on the extreme end of the shank. The legs of the lock are biased outwardly by reason of the unstressed shape of the lock. These outwardly biased legs are forced inward by insertion in the opening of a key which fits outward of the lock and forces the legs of the lock inward into locked position, engaging a portion of the shank. When the key is removed, it provides space for outward movement of the legs of the lock and thereby prevents a tendency of dirt compacting in the opening of the holder from preventing withdrawal of the lock.

  • Patent number: 4133196
Abstract: A key chain comprises a long chain of oblong links having one link of a length longer than the other links extending outward from a fitting formed with a cross-shaped aperture to permit movement of the chain through the aperture. The aperture has a slot extending out to an edge of the fitting. Only the elongated chain link will slide through the slot. Attached to the fitting is a medallion which may carry an advertising logo, owner identification data or other information or decoration. The outer end of the chain has a finger grip to facilitate grasping the chain to move the chain through the aperture until the elongated link is opposite the slot.

  • Patent number: 4050172
Abstract: A retainer of generally U-shape having slightly diverging legs detachably secures the proximal part of an excavating tooth within a complementary recess in its holder. The proximal end of the tooth has a generally rectangular cross-section with opposed outward extending ears and rearwardly thereof is formed with a spindle having a shoulder at the back. In the operative position of the retainer, a portion of the retainer straddles the spindle immediately in front of the shoulder. At least one leg of the retainer is formed with an upper offset leg portion and with oppositely offset lower leg portion with an interconnection there-between. The upper offset portion fits ahead of the shoulder to retain the tooth in place when the retainer is in operative position; but when the retainer is retracted to inoperative position, the upper offset portion of the leg clears the shoulder of the spindle of the tooth.
