  • Patent number: 7009386
Abstract: A non-contact position sensor including a plurality of sensor elements configured in an array. Each of the sensor elements is configured to provide an output associated with each of a plurality of positions of a sensor control element relative to the position sensor, whereby a separate combination of the outputs is provided for each of the positions. In one embodiment, the sensor elements may be Hall effect sensors, and the sensor control element may be a magnet. In another embodiment, the sensor elements may be Hall effect sensors and the sensor control element may be a shunt for blocking a magnetic field the Hall effect sensors. A vehicle seat position sensor system and a method of sensing vehicle seat position are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20050024044
Abstract: An angular positioning sensing system is provided including a rotary sensor configured to provide an absolute phase angle position. The rotary sensor may include a rotatable magnet and two, or more, magnetic field sensors spaced around an axis of rotation of the magnet. The output of the magnetic field sensors may be coupled to a phase angle pulse modulation circuit and a PWM to analog circuit.

  • Publication number: 20040217757
Abstract: A position sensor (5) including a moveable agent (14) and a magnetic sensor (15) for detecting the change in magnetic induction caused by displacement of the magnet. The magnet is oriented relative to the path of displacement such that the magnet moves angularly relative to the magnetic sensor.

  • Patent number: 6788048
Abstract: A position sensor including: a reduction gear train having an input gear and an output gear. The input gear is configured for coupling to an output shaft of a drive motor for driving a vehicle seat on an associated seat track, and a magnet disposed on the output gear for rotation therewith. A Hall Effect sensor is disposed adjacent the magnet for providing a sensor output signal in response to rotation of the magnet. A lock out mechanism for a position sensor, a method of sensing the position of a vehicle seat, and a method of calibrating a vehicle seat position sensor are also provided.

  • Patent number: 5831554
Abstract: A non-contact angular position sensor for sensing the position of a pivotably mounted device, which includes a housing containing a generally spherical socket having a relatively large pivot ball mounted for rotation in the socket, the ball including a spherical magnet having its center coincident with that of the pivot ball, magnetic sensing elements cooperating with and mounted at a fixed distance from the magnet, a joystick having its axis passing through the center of the spherical magnet, and output apparatus connected to the magnetic sensing elements to provide a signal representative of the orientation of the joystick.
