  • Publication number: 20110163032
Abstract: A high recovery sulfate removal process comprises treating a feed water stream conditioned with antiscalant from a source with a reverse osmosis membrane system to produce a purified water permeate stream and a reject stream containing the retained or rejected ions and organic matter. The reject stream is further treated to remove dissolved and suspended species. The reject stream flows to a desaturation/clarification process. A preferred process includes a constant stirred tank reactor (CSTR) where co-precipitation agent is added followed by a clarifier. Water recycled from the clarifier overflow is blended with feed water stream. The removed solids are collected as sludge or a slurry and disposed of in a manner consistent with applicable regulations.

  • Publication number: 20060293748
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a prosthetic implant, a tool assembly for positioning the prosthetic implant, and a method of placing a prosthetic implant. The prosthetic implant includes an anterior end and an opposite, smaller, posterior end. Left and right side portions attach the anterior end to the posterior end. Each of the left and right side portions includes serrations on the top and bottom. The serrations on the top are directed substantially opposite the direction of the serrations on the bottom. Adjacent serrations can be separated by a radius. The implant includes tooling apertures for receiving corresponding portions of a tool assembly. The tool assembly includes an inner tool and an outer tool. The inner tool can engage the implant and can seat the outer tool to the implant. The outer tool can be used to exert a rotational force to the implant to rotate the implant to a desired orientation.

  • Patent number: 4627921
Abstract: The total organic carbon and oxygen in water may be reduced by adjusting the pH of the water to within the range of from about 4 to about 6.9 and then adding an excess of a reducing agent over the amount necessary to react with all of the organic carbon and oxygen present in the water. Preferably the water containing the reducing agent is passed over an adsorbent, absorbent activated carbon bed within a treatment unit the interior of which is anaerobic.
