  • Patent number: 6340096
Abstract: An inverting spring assembly (10) including a housing, a resilient member (12), and an actuator (14). The housing includes a first support (16), a second support (18) opposite the first support, a third support (20), and a fourth support (22) opposite the third support. The first support and second support are a distance Y from another. The resilient member has a first end and a second end and is longer than Y. The resilient member is spaced between the first support and the second support with one end of the resilient member supported by the first support and the other end supported by the second support. The actuator is connected to the housing and appplies force to the resilient member in two directions causing the resilient member to be movable between a first position and a second position.
