Publication number: 20240301684Abstract: A structural masonry element includes an element body having a perimeter wall defined by height, and having parallel top and bottom surfaces, each of the top and bottom surfaces having an external lunate shape. The external lunate shape is defined by a material section resulting from a symmetrical lens cut away from a first circle. The symmetrical lens is a result of an intersection of the first circle with a second circle. Radii of the first and second circles are equivalent. A distance between centers of the first circle and second circle is greater than each of the first and second radii. The external lunate shape is configured to nest an analogous interfacing masonry element within the symmetrical lens and thereby provide a spherical first interlocking masonry joint. A mortarless masonry structure including a plurality of such masonry elements is also considered.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 9, 2023Publication date: September 12, 2024Inventor: Gerald Berger

Patent number: 7269333Abstract: A recording arrangement (1) for receiving and recording a television signal (F) and for receiving an information signal (I) which contains television program information (FPI), for example, title information about future television programs. The recording arrangement (1) has a keyword detector (54) which derives at least one keyword characteristic of the fields of interest of the user from title information of a television program recorded by the recording arrangement (1). A selector (58) selects, from the title information of future television programs, which is contained in the television program information (FPI), the title information containing at least one detected keyword. Selected television programs can be displayed on a display device (3) or can be recorded automatically.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2002Date of Patent: September 11, 2007Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N. Publication number: 20070138735Abstract: A system, method, and process of for packaging liquid product into cartons using an automated packaging system and more specifically methods of enclosing the packaging system and routing conditioned air over the cartons is presented. More specifically, a carton magazine assembly for collecting plastic coated paper carton blanks prior to sanitization, assembly, filling, and sealing includes a magazine cover that can be opened to insert additional carton blanks into the packaging system as necessary. The magazine cover has an integrated air manifold that directs pressurized conditioned air over the carton blanks towards suction ports. The suction ports collect the air with potential contaminants and the filters the air prior to ejecting it away from the vicinity of the packaging system.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 15, 2005Publication date: June 21, 2007Inventors: Gerald Berger, Cletus Kreher, Yasushi Sasaki, Toshiyuki Kanemaru

Publication number: 20050112360Abstract: Manufactured articles are rendered identifiable as to their source or genuineness by incorporating one or more populations of up- and/or down-converting metal oxide or mixed metal oxides during or post manufacture. The nanoparticles exhibit emission of light upon irradiation by energy sources which allows comparison between the emission spectrum of an article with the emission expected of a genuine article or a material from a given manufacturing process, i.e. a batch of material.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 26, 2003Publication date: May 26, 2005Inventors: Gerald Berger, Richard Laine, Jose Azurdia

Patent number: 6473128Abstract: A television signal processing device (12) has a receiver for receiving a television signal (F) and an information signal (I) which contains television program information (FPI), for example, title information about future television programs. The television signal processing device (12) can automatically display a display signal (A) which is reproducible on a display screen (3) and which indicates the title of a currently or shortly starting television program and the receiving channel (E) or the television station from which this television program is or will be receivable, when the receiver (4) of the television signal processing device (12) currently receives the television signal (F) from another television station in another receiving channel (E) and when the title of this television program contains at least one given keyword.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 1999Date of Patent: October 29, 2002Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventor: Gerald Berger

Patent number: 6400408Abstract: A television signal processing device (12) for receiving and processing a television signal (F) and an information signal (I) which contains television program information (FPI) about future television programs. The television signal processing device (12)has television program information determining means (34) by which television program information (FPI) can be determined from the teletext information (TI) of all receivable television signals (F) and can be stored. The television program information determining means (34) are now adapted to autonomously store in a data block address memory (37) at least one teletext page number (TSN) in correlation with television signal identification information (FKI) which identifies the television signal (F) containing the received teletext information (TI). The stored teletext page number (TSN) then identifies a teletext page of the television signal (F) from which television program information (FPI) has been derived successfully the last time.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 1999Date of Patent: June 4, 2002Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventor: Gerald Berger

Patent number: 5767963Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for detecting a yarn wind on a rotating roll partially looped by the yarn and associated with a yarn processing apparatus, and which includes a light source for directing to the monitoring range of the roll a light beam, which is imaged as a light strip along a surface line of the roll, and a light sensor with an evaluation device. The sensor detects the light reflected from a yarn wind, which is converted into an electric signal and may then be further processed.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 1996Date of Patent: June 16, 1998Assignee: Barmag AGInventor: Gerald Berger

Patent number: 5739904Abstract: A method of optically measuring the surface of yarn packages, wherein the package surface is scanned by a light beam, and the reflected light signal is evaluated. The light beam scans the package surface along a predefined path. At each predetermined measuring time, the light beam is directed to a scanning spot of the package surface, and the two plane coordinates of the scanning spot are determined. A portion of the light rays diffused from the scanning spot is focused and directed to a sensor, so that they arrive at the sensor in one point of incidence. The actual position of the point of incidence is measured, and from the difference between the actual position of the point of incidence and the desired point of incidence, the actual third, i.e. elevation, coordinate of the scanning spot may be determined.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1997Date of Patent: April 14, 1998Assignee: Barmag AGInventors: Gerald Berger, Jorg Oulabi
