Abstract: The invention relates to a tumour necrosis factor- (TNF-) related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) which is capable of selectively signalling through death receptor 4 (DR4), comprising Y at position 189. Preferably the TRAIL further comprises 19 IL and/or 199V; preferably also 201R, 213W and 215D, and/or preferably further comprises 193S. The invention also relates to uses of such TRAIL mutants which are capable of selectively signalling through DR4 in the treatment of cancer, and in the manufacture of medicaments for use in treatment of cancer. Preferably the cancer is chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, mantle cell lymphoma or non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The invention also relates to kits comprising same.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for encoding and decoding information in broadcast or recorded segment signals are described. In certain embodiments, an audience monitoring system encodes identification information in the audio signal portion of a broadcast or recorded segment using spread spectrum encoding. A personal monitoring device receives an acoustically reproduced version of the broadcast or recorded signal via a microphone, decodes the identification information from the audio signal portion despite significant ambient noise, and stores this information, automatically providing a diary for the audience member which is later uploaded to a centralized facility. A separate monitoring device decodes additional information from the broadcast signal, which is matched with the audience diary information at the central facility.

A single chain antibody (scFv) which specifically recognizes this common mutant epitope in mutant p53 but not in wild type p53 is disclosed. Also described are a DNA molecule encoding the scFv, pharmaceutical compositions comprising the antibody and methods of treatment using the pharmaceutical compositions.

Abstract: Menus are created that facilitate access to data in a menu database. The menus include a plurality of menus items laid out so as to duplicate a spatial organization of keys on a numeric keypad, such that a one-to-one relationship between the keys on the keypad and the menu items exists and is apparent to a user. The amount of memory required to store database records relating to individual menus is reduced, because a menu template provides general formatting information. Thus, database records need not include formatting details. When a menu is required, a menu template modifier uses the menu template and the corresponding database record to generate the required menu. The menus are employed for accessing data in the menu database. An edit function is provided in the menu template modifier to enable custom menus to be developed and modified.

Abstract: A software monitoring and auditing system which determines the inventory of software products on a computer includes data reducer software which processes detailed software usage data gathered by a monitoring component of the software to create a condensed usage database. The reducer software contemporaneously converts the data records in a manner which reduces the amount of data records by at least a factor of 100, consuming less computer memory and allowing users of the software monitoring and auditing system to review usage data on a desktop PC or the like.

In order to provide a user with a useful way to evaluate the performance of the computer program under evaluation, data is gathered corresponding to one or more of the group of events. A path map is constructed from the gathered event data in which the path map represents program operation performance relationships between the gathered events, and the path map is arranged in order of execution. The output is created based on the path map. The output is presented in such a manner that a user can quickly evaluate the performance of the program under evaluation.

When one desires to make a purchase all he or she need to do is provide a reference to the repository location where all the preference and personal information is stored and that information is automatically communicated in standardized formats, obviating the need for repeatedly keying personal and preference information.

Abstract: A system and method for monitoring and reporting on the usage of software programs on a computer system interfaces with other systems that measure the computer system performance parameters over time. The system integrates the information for both systems to provide software usage reporting that is normalized to a computer performance criteria or index. Optionally, the restated results are fed back to the software usage reporter, to enable obtaining the results of the methodology of the invention from existing computer software usage reporting programs.
