  • Patent number: 11324199
Abstract: An equine ankle brace including a panel of a resilient thermally insulating, heat retaining material, having a cup-shaped bottom portion for enabling the panel to be wrapped around the horse's ankle to readily conform to it. The panel has an inner surface and an outer surface, a pair of front marginal edges including releasably securable fastening straps for securing the brace in place. A stabilizing, e.g., leather, patch is fixedly secured to the panel at the location of the cup-shaped bottom portion. A fetlock support strap is fixedly secured to the stabilizing patch and includes respective portions configured to be pulled into an X-shaped overlapping relationship over the front of the brace for releasable securement to portions of the outer surface of the brace.

  • Patent number: 5871458
Abstract: An equine ankle brace system. The system includes a brace and at least one treatment insert arranged to be releasably secured within the brace. The brace comprises a panel of a resilient thermally insulating, heat retaining, e.g., neoprene rubber, material, having a cup-shaped bottom portion for enabling the panel to be wrapped around the ankle to readily conform to it. The panel has an inner surface and an outer surface, a pair of front marginal edges and three groups of releasably securable straps coupled to the panel to enable the panel to be wrapped about the horse's ankle in close conformance therewith and to be held in place thereon against accidental disconnection. One group of straps is secured adjacent one of the front edges of the panel while the other group of straps is secured adjacent the other of the front edges and is arranged to overlap the one group of straps. The third group is connected to the panel adjacent the cup shaped portion to provide fetlock support.

  • Patent number: 5865777
Abstract: A knee brace for a person, particularly an elderly person. The knee brace made up of a generally planar sheet of elastomeric, e.g., a plush fabric-covered neoprene, material and has a pair of adjustment straps secured to it. The sheet has a central portion having a longitudinal axis, a first side disposed laterally from the axis and from which an intermediate mounting tab projects and a second side disposed laterally from the axis opposite the first side and from which an upper and a lower mounting tab project. The upper tab includes a free end portion in the form of a VELCRO.RTM. multi-hook connector. The intermediate tab is similarly constructed, as is the lower tab. The central portion of the brace is arranged to be mounted on the person's knee so that the longitudinal axis is over the person's patella. The upper tab is arranged to be stretched and wrapped around the posterior of the person's thigh so that it's VELCRO.RTM.

  • Patent number: 5766236
Abstract: A brace for disposition on a part of a person to provide heat retention, electrical stimulation, compression and/or support thereto. The brace basically comprises a sleeve for disposition around the body part, an electrically conductive fabric located on the inner surface of the sleeve, and at least one electrical connector, e.g, a snap means, for releasable electrical connection to an electric source providing High Voltage Pulsed Current. The sleeve is formed of an electrically insulative, thermally insulative, resilient or elastomeric material, e.g., neoprene rubber. The electrically conductive fabric is stretchable and flexible and arranged for direct engagement with the skin of the person when the brace is in place so that electrical stimulation is provided to the body part by the engagement of the electrically conductive fabric to the skin, while the sleeve retains heat in the portion of the person's body about which the sleeve is disposed and also provides mechanical compression and/or support.

  • Patent number: 5168577
Abstract: A sleeve with the horizontal seam worn on the medial side of the elbow or knee and a vertical seam worn on the lateral side of the joint disclosed. Placing the seams on opposite sides of the sleeve prevents bunching of material on the medial side opposite the knee or elbow when the limb is bent. The vertical seam on the lateral side of the knee or elbow reduces irritation in the particularly sensitive areas on the medial side which would occur if the vertical seam were on the medial side of the limb. The elbow sleeve is made of a double laminate with an elastomeric material such as neoprene on the outside and a polymer material such as nylon on the inside. The outside surface on the elbow brace is patterned to produce a roughened textured surface so the ball may be carried in the crook of the arm without slippage. The knee brace is made of a triple laminate with elastomeric material such as neoprene sandwiched between two layers of nylon.
