  • Patent number: 5592781
Abstract: A window having a frame and at least one sash that is at least partially removable from the frame. The frame includes a sash opening and at least one sash engaging surface. At least one sash having at least one frame engaging surface is slidably mounted in the sash opening of the frame so that the frame engaging surface at least partially engages the sash engaging surface. At least one sash stop is mounted in the frame and is movable between an extended position and a retracted position. The sash stop is structured to maintain the sash in position in the sash opening when the sash stop is in the extended position. The sash stop includes resilient means between the frame and the sash stop for urging the sash stop into the extended position. At least one latch is rotatably mounted on the sash and positioned adjacent to the sash stop. The latch is rotatable between a closed position and an open position. In the closed position, the latch does not engage the sash stop.

  • Patent number: 5081793
Abstract: A clad window assembly for a window having a sash insertable into the window from the exterior such as a casement window, an awning window or a picture window has nonwooden frames and sashes secured to each other. A plurality of first wood cladding members are secured to the frame inner surface and a plurality of second wood cladding members are secured to the sash. This establishes the appearance of a wooden window on the inner surface of the window. If desired, at least two of the first cladding members may have an elongated recess which may be employed to receive a screen. An elongated lip may project generally outwardly from the other side of wood cladding members. The second wood cladding members may be an elongated block used for securement of the window pane. The nonwooden frame and first wood cladding members may have different configurations on different portions of the window. Wood cladding mullion and muntin members may be employed. An associated method is provided.

  • Patent number: 4837977
Abstract: Wood cladding for mounting on the inner surface of nonwooden windows having common interior cross sections in which the sash is mounted on the frame from the outside of the window is disclosed. The wood cladding includes at least two sections of wood shaped to conform to the interior surface of the window. Each wood section has a uniform cross section along its entire length and is attachable to either the frame or sash of the window without altering the length and width dimensions of the window or affecting the fit of the window. Cladding may also be applied to mullions. The cladding provides an unmarred, unblemished wood appearance on the inner surface of the window. Fastening devices such as screws or dowels are used to fasten the wood sections to the window without being visible on the frame or on the sash when the sash is closed.
