  • Patent number: 4361883
Abstract: An apparatus for aiding in the final orientation of a video disc stylus assembly within the stylus cartridge. A fixture is arranged for receiving and securing cartridge assemblies in precise spatial relation to successive assemblies. A cantilever secured in fixed spatial relation to the cartridge has its free distal end arranged to engage the stylus assembly, which engagement produces deflections in the cantilever relative to the position of the stylus assembly with respect to the cartridge. Electro-mechanical transducers, coupled to the cantilever, measure and indicate minute deflections therein. The stylus position is then altered manually or by controlled mechanical means in accordance with the measured deflection in the cantilevers.

  • Patent number: 4286290
Abstract: A squelch circuit responsive to a squelch signal mutes audio and video circuits in a video disc player, preconditions a video signal correction servo system to the center of its control range and inhibits a defect correction circuit. A squelch memory, set by the simultaneous occurrence of the squelch signal and a loss of carrier signal derived from the output of the player pickup transducer, maintains the muting, preconditioning and inhibiting functions. When the squelch signal terminates the squelch memory is reset upon subsequent termination of the loss of carrier signal whereby the audio and video circuits are immediately unmuted, stabilization is rapidly established by the preconditioned video signal correction servo system and the defect correction circuit is primed.

  • Patent number: 4239237
Abstract: A turntable drive motor comprises a stator having a core defining an airgap for receiving a rotor, and a field winding for establishing an alternating magnetic flux of a given frequency therein. An elastic belt is disposed about a pully mounted on the rotor shaft and a flange secured to the turntable. A ring having a plurality of permanently magnetized poles of alternate polarity along its periphery is attached to the flange. A pair of elements are secured to the core for diverting a portion of the stator magnetic flux to a region adjacent to the ringed magnets. The relationship between the excitation frequency and the number of the permanently magnetized poles is such that deviations in the rate of rotation of the turntable for a desired rotational rate are opposed.
