Abstract: A hinge system for a foldable ramp, the hinge system comprising: a hinge body comprising a first hinge element, a second hinge element and a bridge portion interposed between the hinge elements; a first ramp connector comprising a first channel and a first engagement portion; and a second ramp connector comprising a second channel and a second engagement portion; wherein the hinge body is interposed between the ramp connectors with the first hinge element pivotably received in the first channel and the second hinge element pivotably received in the second channel such that the hinge system is pivotable between an unfolded configuration and a folded configuration.

Abstract: A ramp kerb, for supporting a transverse edge of a ramp surface and a ramp lip extension having an attachment portion, comprises a first longitudinally extending channel open at an inner transverse edge of the ramp kerb for receiving a transverse edge of the ramp surface and a second longitudinally extending channel open at the inner transverse edge of the ramp kerb for receiving an attachment portion of the ramp lip extension. The first and second longitudinally extending channels are vertically spaced.

Abstract: An evacuation chair is disclosed for evacuating a person down stairs and along level ground. The evacuation chair has a frame and at least one front wheel and at least two rear wheels attached and rotatable with respect to the frame to allow the chair to be wheeled along level ground. The evacuation chair also has two rail assemblies attached with respect to the frame, each rail assembly extending rearwardly and upwardly from a forward end of the rail assembly to a rearward end thereof, the rail assemblies being provided for guiding the movement of the evacuation chair on stairs. A clear space is provided extending throughout a legroom region between the rail assemblies from the rearward ends thereof to at least halfway towards the forward ends thereof, to accommodate the movement of the legs of the operator. The rail assemblies have a belt for movement around the rail assembly, to bear between the stairs and the rail assembly.

Abstract: A foldable ramp, typically a portable foldable ramp for use in allowing access to wheelchairs up and down steps and/or into and out of vehicles. The ramp has two track members that each have a channel formed along their elongate sides that face each other when the ramp is unfolded. A series of first hinge elements is retained in one channel and a series of second hinge elements retained in a second channel. Each element of the series of first hinge elements is arranged to cooperate with at least one element of the second series, so that the first and second hinge elements are arranged alternately in the ramp to provide a hinge connection between the elongate sides of the first and second track members.
