  • Publication number: 20240116804
Abstract: A formulation usable to produce plates and shaped bodies has a base slip, quartz glass particles and multicomponent glass particles that are crystallizable or at least partly crystallized. The base slip contains water as dispersion medium with a content between 30% and 50% by weight and ultrafine SiO2 particles distributed, preferably colloidally therein, with a proportion between 50% and 70% by weight. The proportion of quartz glass particles in the formulation is in the range from 40% to 70% by weight and the proportion the multicomponent glass particles in the formulation is in the range from 5% to 37% by weight. The formulation can be used in a composite material. Firing aids can be made from the composite material.

  • Publication number: 20240043591
Abstract: A process can be used for manufacturing an acrylic copolymer having increased heat resistance, high transparency, and improved adhesion to metal surfaces. The process involves polymerizing a monomer mixture, optional heating of the copolymer mixture, and removing volatile components from the copolymer mixture by degassing. Moulding compositions containing this copolymer are highly suitable for manufacturing optical elements for optoelectronic devices containing acrylic and metallic or ceramic parts.

  • Publication number: 20110263806
Abstract: The invention relates to a copolymer for producing molded compounds or cast glass for the production of molded bodies having increased dimensional stability under heat, obtainable from the copolymerization of A) one or more ethylenically unsaturated ester compounds of the formula (I), where R1 is hydrogen or methyl and R2 a linear or branched alkyl group with 1 to 8 carbon atoms, B) one or more ethylenically unsaturated ester compounds of the formula (II), where R3 is hydrogen or methyl and R4 a cyclic group with 8 to 30 carbon atoms, C) one or more ethylenically unsaturated ester compounds of the formula (III), where R5 is hydrogen or methyl and R6 and R7, independently of each other, are hydrogen or a linear or branched group with 1 to 40 carbon atoms.

  • Patent number: 7110953
Abstract: A perceptual audio coder is disclosed for encoding audio signals, such as speech or music, with different spectral and temporal resolutions for redundancy reduction and irrelevancy reduction. The disclosed perceptual audio coder separates the psychoacoustic model (irrelevancy reduction) from the redundancy reduction, to the extent possible. The audio signal is initially spectrally shaped using a prefilter controlled by a psychoacoustic model. The prefilter output samples are thereafter quantized and coded to minimize the mean square error (MSE) across the spectrum. The disclosed perceptual audio coder can use fixed quantizer step-sizes, since spectral shaping is performed by the pre-filter prior to quantization and coding. The disclosed pre-filter and post-filter support the appropriate frequency dependent temporal and spectral resolution for irrelevancy reduction. A filter structure based on a frequency-warping technique is used that allows filter design based on a non-linear frequency scale.

  • Patent number: 6842724
Abstract: A method and apparatus which reduces the start-up delay that may occur when switching programs in audio and/or video streaming applications while maintaining high quality steady-state performance thereof. A program source (e.g., an audio and/or video data stream) is encoded and transmitted as two or more separate bit streams (e.g., sequences of data packets), the transmission of one of these bit streams being delayed by a given amount of time relative to the transmission of the other bit stream(s). At the receiving end of the transmission channel, the two or more bit streams are buffered by receive buffers having different sizes (thereby resulting in different time delays when the contents thereof are decoded), wherein the time delay difference corresponds (inversely) to the relative delay times prior to transmission.

  • Patent number: 6778953
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for representing the masked threshold in a perceptual audio coder, using line spectral frequencies (LSF) or another representation for linear prediction (LP) coefficients. The present invention calculates LP coefficients for the masked threshold using known LPC analysis techniques. In one embodiment, the masked thresholds are optionally transformed to a non-linear frequency scale suitable for auditory properties. The LP coefficients are converted to line spectral frequencies or a similar representation in which they can be quantized for transmission. In one implementation, the masked threshold is transmitted only if the masked threshold is significantly different from the previous masked threshold. In between each transmitted masked threshold, the masked threshold is approximated using interpolation schemes.

  • Patent number: 6718300
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for reducing aliasing between neighboring subbands in cascaded filter banks. An alias reduction filter bank is included to reduce the aliasing components between different subbands. Generally, the magnitude response and phase of the alias reduction filter bank is similar to the magnitude response of the synthesis filter bank of the first stage filter bank. The alias reduction filter bank filters and adds the signals from a set of M2 subbands from the M1 subbands of the first stage analysis filter bank. A higher frequency resolution is obtained after the alias reduction stage by a following analysis filter bank. The signals of these subbands are first fed into an alias reduction filter bank to reduce the aliasing.
