Abstract: A locking system for a storage compartment of a storage container is provided, the locking system including a latching mechanism and a locking mechanism. When the locking mechanism is in a locked position, the latching mechanism is prevented from unlatching and opening the compartment. When the locking mechanism is in its unlocked position, the latching mechanism is allowed to be unlatched and the compartment to be moved to its open position. The key code used with the locking mechanism may be the same or different than the key code used with the locking system of another storage compartment of the storage container.

Abstract: A lock system for a horizontal tool box wherein the latching mechanism for the lid may be operated from the proximal end of the toolbox and locking is achieved by means of a single padlock which is likewise located at the proximal end of the toolbox. An elongated latch rod is slidably disposed adjacent a front wall of either the body or lid components of the box. Latching portions of the latch rod are disposed to slidingly engage flanges that extend from the opposite component of the box to latch the components together at multiple locking points, the elongated latch rod being slidably disposed to engage or disengage each locking point substantially simultaneously.

Abstract: A rack assembly for securing cargo on a roof of a vehicle. The rack has a pair of mounting bracket assemblies for attaching securely to the roof of a vehicle, a cross member with a plurality of apertures located at predetermined positions between its transverse axis and each of its ends so as to provide pairs of attachment points (each pair defining a unique spacing distance correlating to a different vehicle roof width) and a pair of support assemblies for adjustably coupling between respective mounting bracket assemblies and the cross member to support the cross member above the roof of the vehicle.

Abstract: A lock system for a container with a movable closure or lid. The lock system includes a pivotally mounted latch member, a corresponding rigid latch member which interlocks with the pivoting latch member when the closure is closed, and a push-button lock mechanism having a shoulder portion which engages and displaces the pivoting latch member, thereby permitting the closure to be opened, when the lock mechanism is in its "unlocked" position and the push-button is depressed. The pivoting latch member includes a pair of plates slideably coupled to one another, one pivotally mounted in the container and the other supporting a cross-member which engages the rigid latch member. The pivoting latch member has a slot through which the shoulder portion of the lock mechanism passes (without engaging or displacing the latch member) when the lock mechanism is "locked".
