  • Patent number: 4316485
Abstract: There is disclosed a mixing valve primarily for hot and cold water which includes a complex unitary removable seat unit formed by molding, to cooperate with a control member and seal of special form to control fluid flow into a valve body and through the same to a by-pass valve in the body which includes a spool arranged to operate in a horizontal position to cause fluid directed thereto, to be delivered to and from one outlet or another in response to opening and closing of one outlet.

  • Patent number: 4315525
Abstract: A single lever mixing valve adapted for proportioning hot and cold water and for controlling the volume of flow. A valve body has fluid passages which terminate in two spaced apart inlet ports and an outlet port to a valve seat. A generally spherical closure member is universally movable within the valve body so as to normally cover and seal the inlet ports in a closed position. Two recesses in the surface of the closure member are spaced apart by a divider portion and extend circumferentially relative to the inlet ports. Due to this configuration, the closure member can be moved to open mixing positions in which each recess completes a fluid passage between one of the inlet ports and the outlet port. The divider portion can be positioned to partially or fully close one inlet port while the other inlet port remains open.

  • Patent number: 3991973
Abstract: There is disclosed faucet construction which incorporates control valve means comprising a plurality of fluid flow regulation instrumentalities constructed to operate sequentially to shut off water flow, including a tapered end seal portion cooperable with a passage through a seat to normally effect such shut-off, a second seal in the form of an O-ring operable when the end seal portion fails to shut off fluid flow, and a third seal surface adjacent the end seal portion operable when the first and second means fail to shut off as desired, with the further provision of seat construction which facilitates replacement by threaded or non-threaded seat means.
