  • Patent number: 5199391
Abstract: A rotary internal combustion engine including a plurality of toroidal cylinders and toroidal pistons that are slidably carried within the cylinders. Combustion of an air-fuel mixture within the respective cylinders provides a series of circumferential power strokes for more efficient operation. The pistons and cylinders are carried by a pair of side-by-side, coaxial drive rotors, the output power pulses of which are transmitted through a drive clutch and planetary gear assembly to an engine output drive shaft. The drive clutch and planetary gear assembly includes four overrunning clutches and a planetary gear train to smoothly transmit the successive intermittent engine power strokes to the output drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 4377103
Abstract: A dual dependent ejector assembly for ordnance stores on aircraft, etc. wh imparts to the store, in addition to normal ejecting forces, an angular rate of movement and/or an angular attitude. The ejecting forces are applied at fore and aft locations on the store (e.g. bomb) by piston-like ejectors which are actuated by hydraulic circuitry. Dual dependency is achieved by the action of a stepped piston which transmits equal volumes of fluid from two source chambers to each of the two ejectors. A third chamber in which the stepped piston operates supplements the fluid supplied to the ejectors by the first two chambers by means of a valve distribution system which includes two pressure responsive spool valves.

  • Patent number: 4261442
Abstract: A braking system for controlling the rotational motion of one or more rotatable members such as vehicle wheels wherein an annular base member is stationarily mounted with respect to a concentric rotatable axle and a cup shaped drum is concentrically mounted on the axle for rotation therewith and enclosing the brake mechanism. A plurality of slots are formed on a portion of the base member and on the inner edge of the drum. A centrally positioned, split, annular, metallic disc has peripheral fingers directed radially outward to engage the slots on the drum and annular friction members are positioned on either side of this central disc. Each of the friction members has radially inwardly directed fingers for engagement with the slots on the base. The friction members, therefore, are held relatively stationary and the central disc rotates with the axle.
