  • Publication number: 20130047550
Abstract: A method and system for installing a first course of shakes or shingles on either a wall or a roof of a structure. The shake starter jig comprises an anchor leg with a first end and a second end, a suspension mechanism located adjacent the first end of the anchor leg to facilitate securing the shake starter jig to a desired surface, a ledger shelf supported adjacent the second end of the anchor leg, a ledger support rigidly affixed to a remote end of the ledger shelf, the second end of the anchor leg, the ledger shelf and the ledger support are all sized so as to facilitate receiving and accommodating a ledger board therebetween. The suspension mechanism is located a predefined distance away from the ledger shelf so as to facilitate spacing the ledger shelf a desired distance from a level line.

  • Publication number: 20130031867
Abstract: A shake jig which comprises a base member which supports an adjustable member and a releasable fastener which facilitates releaseable retention of the adjustable member in a desired relative position with respect to the base member. The base member is substantially planar and has a shake shelf for abutting against a surface of a shake to prevent further insertion thereof, between an installed topmost shake and an at least partially overlapped shake, and facilitate desired alignment of the shake jig with respect to the installed topmost shake. At least one projection is formed on a surface of the base member, adjacent a leading end thereof, to facilitate retention of the shake jig following insertion of the base member. The adjustable member has a ledger shelf for engaging with a ledger board to retain the ledger board in a desired horizontal orientation with respect to the shake shelf and to assist with installation of shakes.

  • Publication number: 20120292275
Abstract: A temporary shelf system for supporting a load along a wall having overlapping horizontal rows of siding members. The shelf system comprises a pair of shelf jigs, and each shelf jig comprises a planar main body which has at least an upper portion and front and rear faces, a planar support plate fixedly supported by the main body and extending approximately normal to the front face of the main body, and a retention spring extending from the main body substantially parallel to the support plate. A portion of the retention spring is spaced from the support plate so as to apply a clamping force to a shelf board when the shelf board is located between the retention spring and the top surface of the support plate and facilitate retention of the to the shelf board.

  • Patent number: 7908761
Abstract: A method and system for installing shakes on a building comprising a ledger board and a shake jig for assisting with installation of shakes. The shake jig comprising a base member supporting an adjustable member with a releasably fastener facilitating releaseable retention of the adjustable member in a desired relative position with respect to the base member. The base member has a shake shelf for abutting against a surface of a shake to prevent further insertion of the base member, between an installed topmost shake and an at least partially overlapped shake, and facilitate desired alignment of the shake jig with respect to the installed topmost shake. The adjustable member has a ledger shelf for engaging with the ledger board and retaining the ledger board in a desired horizontal orientation with respect to the shake shelf and assisting with installation of shakes.
