  • Publication number: 20030204744
Abstract: A method and a system for providing a terminal in a first network, in which the terminal has a network address, with access to a second network. A traffic node (TN) establishes a virtual network with the terminal and intercepts traffic sent by the terminal. If the terminal is not authorised to send traffic towards the second network, the TN notifies a network service node (LSN) that in turn sends a forced portal to the terminal. The user logs on, using the forced portal, the LSN verifies the log-on and, if successful, informs the TN that the terminal is authorised. The TN then updates a filter and lets the traffic through. If the second network belongs to an Internet Service Provider (ISP), then the TN logs the user onto the ISP and associates the IP address given by the ISP with the first network address in the filter.

  • Publication number: 20020165846
Abstract: A personal portal in a data communications network that comprises a number of sites. The personal portal comprises a user profile applicable all over the network and a number of context profiles applicable within a certain site. The user profile comprises a private part accessible only by the user, and a public part accessible to the public. Each context profile may comprise personal information, personal settings, and access policies. As parts of the personal portal may be accessible and downloaded by other users, there is also provided a method and a system for keeping the downloaded profiles up to date. There is also provided a profile storage.

  • Publication number: 20020165976
Abstract: The invention is a method for software deployment in a data communications network comprising an Initiator, a Service Provider, and a Peer. The Initiator selects a service and sends an interface request related to the service to the Service Provider. The Service Provider authenticates the request and responds with the interface that the Initiator uses to prepare a service request that is sent to the Service Provider. The Service Provider sends an invitation to the Peer that, if it accepts the service, sends an accept service message to the Service Provider that builds the software for the service and distributes it to the Initiator and the Peer that both install the software, and the service is initiated.

  • Publication number: 20010036224
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for the passive location positioning of wireless handsets for the purposes of delivering targeted data to users in a wireless communications network while protecting the privacy of the users. The network may contain a plurality of clusters comprising at least two physical nodes communicating with each other via a remote link. The first node, the Mediation Server, receives raw location positioning data from the wireless communications network and sends standardized location positioning data with encrypted unique identifiers to the second node, the Profiling Server. The Profiling Server tracks and profiles current and historical location positioning data, compiling databases of anonymous user profiles to permit targeting of personalized and relevant data. The Profiling Server targets data to users with matching profiles and forwards those messages to the Mediation Server for encryption and further message compilation and transport.
