  • Patent number: 4488521
Abstract: Disclosed, in combination, are a combustion engine, an electric storage battery, an electrically powered starter motor for at times driving the engine in order to start the engine, and an electrical system monitor; the electrical system monitor has a first monitoring portion which senses the actual voltage across the battery and a second monitoring portion which monitors the current through the battery; an electrical switch controls associated circuitry and is actuatable into open or closed conditions; whenever the first monitoring portion senses a preselected magnitude of the actual voltage across the battery or the second monitoring portion senses a preselected magnitude of the current flow through the battery, the electrical switch is actuated.

  • Patent number: 4306270
Abstract: An electrical system monitor is shown as employing a quad-chip C-MOS integrated circuit for sensing when the voltage of a monitored circuit, monitored sub-circuit, monitored branch circuit or monitored circuit portion deviates, by a preselected magnitude, from a selected magnitude of voltage; upon such deviation occurring, a related switch is actuated causing energization of sensory warning apparatus and, in another aspect of the invention, a switching device is actuated to open a related load circuit. In a further embodiment the quad-chip C-MOS integrated circuit is, in the same general manner, responsive to sensing preselected deviations from a selected magnitude of current and, upon the occurrence thereof causing actuation of related switch means.

  • Patent number: 4205237
Abstract: A plurality of probes are situated as to experience being touched by liquid which is being monitored; when both of such probes are touched by the liquid, related electrical circuit means becomes energized as to cause related pumping means to be activated thereby pumping some of the monitored liquid to, in turn, reduce the level of such monitored liquid; when the level of the monitored liquid decreases to a predetermined level, the pumping means is automatically de-activated; during periods wherein there might occur a momentary splashing or sloshing of the monitored liquid, time delay means serves to delay activation of said pumping means thereby preventing unnecessary activation of the pumping means.

  • Patent number: 4171932
Abstract: A plurality of probes are situated as to experience being touched by the liquid being monitored; when at least one of such probes is touched by the liquid related electrical circuit means becomes energized as to cause related pumping means to be activated thereby pumping some of the monitored liquid to, in turn, reduce the level of such monitored liquid; when the level of the monitored liquid decreases to a predetermined level, the pumping means is automatically de-activated; during periods wherein there might occur a momentary splashing or sloshing of the monitored liquid, time delay means serves to correspondingly delay activation of said pumping means thereby preventing unnecessary activation of the pumping means.

  • Patent number: 4166448
Abstract: A ventilation system for removing fumes in the space above a cooking surface includes a hood located above the cooking surface which forms an entrainment chamber between the hood and the cooking surface, an air intake means having a blower which introduces outside air into the entrainment chamber and exhaust means in operative relation with the hood and including a filter member through which the air and the cooking fumes are passed to filter out the grease and to exhaust the filtered air and gasses into the atmosphere. The improvement is in the provision of an intake blower and an exhaust blower and additionally, an air spreading and diffusion means for forming an air pattern in the entrainment chamber corresponding to the planar area of the cooking surface. The diffused inlet gasses thus mix with the heated fumes and gasses from the cooking surface and therefore eliminates the need to pretemper the air entering the entrainment chamber.

  • Patent number: 4126367
Abstract: A battery cable assembly is shown as having a conductor to which a plurality of plate-like terminals, spaced from each other, are operatively secured; substantially all of the cable assembly is sealed within a protective relatively resilient coating with provision being made for access to the plate-like terminals for connection thereof to the post-like terminals of related batteries.

  • Patent number: 4038490
Abstract: A splicing technique for fluoro-polymer-jacketed coaxial cables comprising hree bonding layers, with one of these bonding layers being located inside of the shield. The bonding agents are specially chosen to have thermal expansion coefficients matching the materials they are to bond to, and to have sufficient flexibility to provide strain relief and to prevent chafing and cut-through of the outer jacket at its emergence point from the outer potting layer.

  • Patent number: 4017746
Abstract: A timing circuit is shown as employing a flip-flop for driving an output circuit portion as to have such output circuit portion in effect provide either a low or no output or a high output with such in turn being employed for turning on or turning off a related power circuit; a first high gain amplifier is employed as a means for placing the flip-flop into one of its states whenever an appropriate trigger signal is momentarily applied thereto, while a second high gain comparator amplifier is effective to provide a reset signal to the flip-flop whenever a particular span of time has elapsed from the application of the trigger signal; the timing for creating the reset signal is achieved as through an R-C network which provides, in effect, a threshold signal to the second amplifier upon the application of which the second amplifier produces the reset signal and applies it to the flip-flop thereby placing the output circuit portion in a condition wherein it has either a low or no output.
