    Abstract: A cosmetic composition is disclosed containing, as an agent for protection against light radiation, at least one 2-hydroxydibenzoylmethane of the formula: ##STR1## in which R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 independently of one another denote hydrogen or halogen atoms, a straight-chain or branched-chain C.sub.1 to C.sub.12 alkyl group or a C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 lower alkoxy group and R denotes a hydrogen atom or a C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 lower alkyl group, in a cosmetically acceptable medium.
