    Abstract: A ligating device for the ligation of blood vessels during surgery includes a clip assembly and an applicator. The clip assembly comprises two separate clip members which are interlocked on the vessel when the applicator is closed and which remains on the vessel when the applicator is reopened. The applicator includes opposite jaw portions, each of which retains a clip member in a deformable cavity, the jaw portions having flexible retaining legs, and the cavity being deformed to its open position when the jaws are closed.
