Publication number: 20240122683Abstract: A system for dental implant restoration is provided. It includes universal aligning adaptors and prosthetic components having co-operable indices, which together form a translational, integrating system which aligns, synchronizes, and references the prosthetic components about an implant's central axis of rotation. Rotation of an adaptor about a prosthetic component, with its reference point becoming aligned to a predetermined reference point on the prosthetic component, followed by the rotation of the adaptor/prosthetic component assembly about the implant, situates the prosthetic component in a predetermined position such that all other prosthetic components become synchronized to the adaptor's reference point. The prosthetic component is mechanical for clinical or lab bench use, or is virtual for restoration design in a software program, prior to milling prosthetic abutments or devices.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 25, 2023Publication date: April 18, 2024Inventor: Gerald M. MARLIN

Patent number: 5564921Abstract: A method of forming an abutment post and securing it to an implant in prosthodontic restorations wherein a post part is applied to a collar part and the parts are rotated relative to each other into a desired position where they are fixed together. The fixed parts are then used to form a one-piece abutment post such as by molding when the parts are made from a resin material. The one-piece abutment post is secured relative to an implant in patient's mouth to form a body for a crown or coping. An adaptor between the post and the implant can be used to adapt the post to various types and sizes of implants.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 1995Date of Patent: October 15, 1996Inventor: Gerald M. Marlin

Patent number: 5439380Abstract: Abutment posts, gingival collars, and universal adaptors along with their fixation screws that are used for insertion into dental implants are revealed. The adaptor is universal in that it matches to many different shaped, sized, and styled implants, and standardizes their restoration with uniform gingival collars and abutment posts. A gingival collar of varying sizes, which extends from the top of the flange of the adaptor to the height of the gingival tissue, is used to bring the restoration of the implant into the oral cavity. A post becomes connected to the gingival collar to create a restoration for the placement of a crown or coping over the implant. The top of the adaptor has a projection which is indexed and the top of the gingival collar is also indexed. This indexing allows specific angle correction in the horizontal plane by the counter rotation of the gingival collar and the post head.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 1994Date of Patent: August 8, 1995Inventor: Gerald M. Marlin

Patent number: 5238405Abstract: Abutment posts, gingival collars, and universal adaptors along with their fixation screws that are used for insertion into dental implants are revealed. The universal adaptor has at one end an external hexagon post, cylindrical post, or other means of varying dimensions of such a nature as to fit into several different types of manufactured implants with various dimensions and internal thread diameters. The adaptor is universal in that it matches to many different shaped, sized, and styled implants, and standardizes their restoration with uniform gingival collars and abutment posts. A small flange which tapers from the dimension that matches the individual underlying implant to a standardized size at its free end. An external post, octagon in shape, extends from the flange towards the free end. A gingival collar of varying sizes, which extends from the top of the flange to the height of the gingival tissue, is used to bring the restoration of the implant into the oral cavity.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1991Date of Patent: August 24, 1993Inventor: Gerald M.
