  • Patent number: 8294584
Abstract: A monitor implements a protocol for evaluating the sufficiency of a worker's hand washing activity in a desirably sanitary area. After a quantity of cleanser has been dispensed to the worker, data representative of the frequency, amplitude and duration of hand reciprocation by the worker are combined according to a predetermined mathematical proposition to provide a hand cleansing quality indicator. The indicator is then compared to a predetermined threshold level to determine if the protocol has been satisfied. Preferably, the predetermined mathematical proposition includes variable multipliers which can be selected to reflect the importance to the user of the frequency, amplitude and duration components of the proposition and the user can also select the predetermined pass/fail threshold.

  • Patent number: 7375640
Abstract: A desirably sanitary environment such as a hospital will have hand hygiene stations dispersed in some of the patient rooms, hallways, common areas, staff bathrooms and the like. Workers entering and exiting these rooms and areas should comply with proper hand hygiene protocols as they move from contact with one patient to another. A system, method and implementation are provided for increasing the likelihood of proper hand hygiene protocols. Identifying credentials unique to each worker, sensors tracking the room entry and exit activities of each credential, electronic hand hygiene substance dispensers responsive to the credentials and a computerized network are combined to count completed hand hygiene protocol cycles to the credit of each credential for use in a compliance awards program to encourage proper hand hygiene. Each credential may include green, yellow and red LED's to alert as to “hands clean,” please sanitize” and “hands dirty” conditions.

  • Patent number: 7191722
Abstract: For indicating the absence of a drain plug from a boat drain when the boat is in a launch condition, a receptacle with a water flow passage and a cavity containing a Hall effect switch is mounted in the boat drain. A stopper has a magnet which operatively aligns with the Hall effect switch when the stopper plugs the passage. The Hall effect switch and a switch operated in response to a presence-of-water condition are components of a control circuit which drives a switch to connect and disconnect an audio alarm activation device to and from an electrical power source. The alarm will always be activated when the stopper is not in the drain and the presence-of-water switch has operated and will never be activated when the stopper is in the drain.

  • Patent number: 5292269
Abstract: A trolling motor automatic disconnect interrupts power to a trolling motor and controller from an electrical power source when the trolling motor is not in a trolling position. A relay operated switch between the trolling motor and controller and the power source connects and disconnects the trolling motor and controller to and from the power source. Contacts mounted on and inserted into and withdrawn from the water with an immersible portion of the trolling motor sense when the immersible portion of the trolling motor is disposed in the water. An inverting amplifier responsive to the status of the contacts energizes the relay to pull the switch to the connect condition when the immersible portion of the trolling motor is disposed in the water and deenergize the relay to pull the switch to the disconnect condition when the immersible portion of the trolling motor is not in the water.

  • Patent number: 5182556
Abstract: Apparatus for indicating the absence of a drain plug in a boat drain when the boat is in a launch condition includes an electrically activated alarm connected in series with an electrical power source and a control circuit for connecting and disconnecting the alarm to the power source. The control circuit is contained in a housing mounted proximate the boat drain on an exterior portion of the boat and includes a normally open switch closable by immersion of the contacts in water and normally closed switch operable in response to an actuator mounted on the drain plug so that, when the drain plug is properly seated in the boat drain, the actuator will throw the switch to an open condition. Thus, if the drain plug is not properly seated in the drain when the boat is launched into the water, the control circuit will be completed by immersion of the first switch in the water and the alarm will be activated.
