  • Publication number: 20230123796
Abstract: A coated optical component includes an optical component and a conformal coating. The optical component is crystalline calcium fluoride and the conformal coating is an atomic layer deposition (ALD) coating in contact with a surface of the optical component. The ALD coating includes a metal fluoride ALD coating having a metal different from calcium. The ALD coating can include other metal oxide or metalloid oxide ALD coating layers. The method for making the coated optical component includes depositing an atomic layer deposition (ALD) coating on a surface of the optical component, where the ALD coating can be a metalloid oxide, a metal oxide, a metal fluoride having a metal that is different from calcium, or combinations of these. Sulfur hexafluoride is used as a fluorine source in the ALD process.

  • Patent number: 10578785
Abstract: An optical assembly and a method for making the optical assembly. The optical assembly includes an optical element; an adhesion promoter; a blocking coating; a holder; and an adhesive configured to adhere the optical element to the holder. The blocking coating includes a light absorber that does not transmit light with wavelengths from greater than or equal to about 250 nm to less than or equal to about 400 nm; The light absorber is positioned such that light having a wavelength from greater than or equal to about 190 nm to less than or equal to about 500 nm is not incident to the adhesive. The adhesion promoter improves adhesion of the blocking coating to the optical element and reduces the likelihood of delamination during handling, operation, or clearing of the optical assembly.

  • Patent number: 9834090
Abstract: A fuel tank assembly includes a fuel tank including a fuel inlet. A fuel cap is threadably engageable with the fuel inlet. The fuel cap has a grip provided for manipulation by a user. A vent path extends between a vent channel and the interior of the fuel tank. In a first configuration, the fuel cap is fully threaded to the fuel inlet to a fully closed position. The assembly is operable to transition to a second configuration in which the vent path is unobstructed and the fuel cap is fully threaded to the fuel inlet to the fully closed position. To enable unthreading of the fuel cap from the fuel inlet, the fuel tank assembly is operable to transition from the first configuration to the second configuration in response to a movement that does not alter the threaded engagement with the fuel inlet.

  • Patent number: 8572631
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for controlling a device. In one aspect, a method for controlling a device includes exposing a plurality of virtual device interfaces (13) for a device (11), wherein each virtual device interface (13) enables client control of a discrete function of the device, and controlling concurrent communication between the device (11) and two or more virtual device interfaces (13) operating on a single shared I/O connection (15) using a shared I/O port controlled by a device I/O module (12). The device I/O module (12) enables independent development of multiple device interfaces (13) that can seamlessly and independently operate on a single (physical) device communication connection (15), wherein the device shared I/O (input/output) module (12) implements functions to arbitrate and coordinate I/O activity between the device interfaces (13) and target device (11).

  • Patent number: 8101846
Abstract: High efficiency conversion of heat energy to electrical energy is achieved using a ring of metallic components and anodically sliced, reduced barriers, high purity n-type and p-type semiconductor wafers. Energy produced by heating one set of fins and cooling another set is extracted from a ring of bismuth telluride based n-type wafers and antimony telluride based p-type wafers using make-before-break control of MOSfet switch banks. Standard AC frequencies and DC output result from rectification of make-before-break high frequency switched very high currents in the ring and a DC to AC converter. Solar energy stored in porcelain fragments extends the time that solar energy can be used as the heat source for the thermoelectric generator device.
