  • Patent number: 5020234
Abstract: Apparatus for measuring ripple spring deflection to determine stator wedge tightness in an electric generator without removing the rotor includes a low profile carriage insertable in the gap between the rotor and stator. A probe is aligned longitudinally and laterally with holes in the stator wedges with the aid of a miniature television camera on the carriage and extended through an aligned hole to contact the ripple spring. The probe is connected through a cable to the core of a linear variable differential transformer mounted on the carriage which provides an accurate measurement of probe extension. The probe is extended and retracted by an arrangement of cables and springs providing a lost motion coupling which accommodates for seating of the probe against a ripple spring at less than full extension.

  • Patent number: 4598580
Abstract: An inflatable seal for an annular cavity which is to be filled with magnetic rubber mold material utilized to inspect surfaces lining the cavity. The seal comprises an oblong tubular member sealed on each end and formed into a circle with the sealed ends engaged to form a circular ring. A conduit connects into the tubular member so that the seal may be inflated and deflated and a plurality of conduits pass through the tubular member a predetermined distance to position the seal within the cavity and provide means for supplying rubber mold material to the seal portion of the cavity and bleed air or evacuate the cavity as the rubber mold material is being injected thereto.

  • Patent number: 4387317
Abstract: A method and apparatus for securing end windings of turbine generators is described. The invention comprises a hose and a dry filament subcomposite disposed therein. By choosing suitable proportions of the subcomposite components, the coefficient of thermal expansion of the total hose assembly is preselectable with reasonable accuracy.

  • Patent number: 4315173
Abstract: A dynamoelectric machine's segmented baffle assembly comprises a baffle ring which is bolted to a back-up plate disposed in the stator core. The annular-shaped baffle ring is formed from a plurality of arcual segments, each segment secured by at least one of said bolts. For low flow rates of coolant gas, the air gap can be further reduced by means of a teflon insert located on the inner circumferential surface of the baffle ring. For expeditious access to the rotor assembly, only one of said segments need be.

  • Patent number: 4118645
Abstract: Disclosed is a dynamoelectric machine with a tubular shaped stator assembly having a generally cylindroid rotor assembly mounted therein. There is a clearance between the outer circumference of the rotor and the inner circumference of the stator for the passage of cooling gas. On one end of the stator assembly there is mounted a dual position air gap baffle assembly. In one position the baffle assembly will regulate the flow of cooling gas in the clearance space between the dynamoelectric machine's stator and rotor; and in the other position, there is a keystone shaped opening which will make the rotor assembly accessible.
