  • Publication number: 20200225711
Abstract: A portable information handling system integrates a sliding support with interlaced fingers below a flexible display to adjust support the display based upon rotational orientation of housing portions of the information handling system. In a closed position, the sliding support compresses by fully engaging the fingers so that room is provided over a hinge assembly that rotationally couples the housing to provide folding of the flexible display without wrinkling or compression.

  • Publication number: 20200183471
Abstract: An information handling system port, such as a USB Type C port, interfaces through a switch with first and second chargers that support bi-directional power transfer. A controller selectively configures one charger to accept power from the port and the other charger to discharge power to the port, the controller commanding the switch to interface a selected charger based upon whether a power source or power sink interfaces with the port. First and second batteries interface with the first and second chargers and a power rail through a second switch. The controller selectively interfaces and disconnects the batteries with the power rail to simultaneously support discharge to the power rail and to the port.

  • Patent number: 10666078
Abstract: In one or more embodiments, one or more systems, methods, and/or processes may determine a temperature change associated with a first battery system; may determine if a temperature change is increasing; if the temperature change associated with the first battery is increasing: may determine if the temperature change is above a maximum threshold; if the temperature change is not above the maximum threshold, may charge the first battery system; if the temperature change is above the maximum threshold: may determine that a second battery system is fully charged; and may charge the first battery system at a reduced charge rate; and if the temperature change is not increasing: may determine if the temperature change is above a minimum threshold; if the temperature change is above the minimum threshold, may charge the first battery; and if the temperature change is not above the minimum threshold, may charge the second battery system.

  • Publication number: 20200161872
Abstract: An IHS (Information Handling System) may support multiple power sources and may support concurrent voltage inputs from each of these multiple power sources. An IHS may include multiple batteries, each of which is charged by a separate battery charging system. Embodiments of systems for charging and powering such IHSs are described, where such embodiments maximize the power that may be drawn from such concurrent power sources inputs, while avoiding inefficient modes of operation and while avoiding dead battery conditions. In many IHSs, certain power source couplings may also be configured to draw power from the IHS, such as Type C USB couplings. Embodiments also support efficient power supply outputs that avoid excessive battery depletion that may result in dead battery states.

  • Patent number: 10649713
Abstract: In some examples, a stylus determines that an end cap was removed from an end of the stylus and notifies a computing device. In response, the computing device initiates a calibration process that includes displaying a pattern on a first display device of the computing device. The stylus gathers first data when the end of the stylus traces the pattern and sends the first data to the computing device. The computing device stops displaying the pattern on the first display device and begins displaying the pattern on a second display device of the computing device. The stylus gathers second data when the end of the stylus traces the pattern and sends the second data to the computing device. The computing device uses the first data and the second data to calibrate the first display device and the second display device to reduce perceived color and intensity differences.

  • Patent number: 9444525
Abstract: A computing device comprises a head that can be physically attached to a base. The head may be capable of functioning as a type of computing device independent of the base. The base may include a base transceiver to receive data from a first component of the base, encode the data into a signal, and transmit the signal. The base may include a base waveguide to guide the signal to a head waveguide of the head. The head may include a head transceiver to receive the signal from the head waveguide, decode the data from the signal, and send the data to a second component of the head.

The base includes a base transceiver to receive data from a first component of the base, encode the data into a signal, and transmit the signal. The base includes a base waveguide to guide the signal to a head waveguide of the head. The base waveguide includes a first portion that is attached to the base and a second portion that is unattached to the base. The second portion of the base waveguide behaves as a spring to keep the base waveguide within a predetermined distance from the head waveguide. The head includes a head transceiver to receive the signal from the head waveguide, decode the data from the signal, and send the data to a second component of the head.
