  • Publication number: 20060022422
Abstract: A three wheeled vehicle comprises a frame with a rear axle assembly that mounts a pair of spaced rear wheels. The rear axle assembly includes a rear axle, a caster arm disposed at opposite ends of the rear axle and defining a caster axis, and trailing arm assemblies that couple the rear wheels to the caster arms. The caster arms are outwardly and rearwardly inclined at a camber angle and a caster angle, respectively. The trailing arm assemblies position the rear wheels such that they contact the ground surface at a point offset from an intersection of the caster axis with the ground surface. As a result of this configuration, the vehicle can swing or spinout along an arcuate path and simultaneously tilt when a rider quickly turns.
