Abstract: Alternative tool wear compensation modules employing drawbar actuated tool position adjustment or electrically activated solid-state prime mover adjustment including means for physically sensing and verifying the extent of adjustment without awaiting the gaging of successive work piece dimensions following compensation adjustment. In one embodiment, a piezoelectric stack is employed with a flexure unit mounted tool to produce adjustment deflection through controlled voltage applied to the piezoelectric stack.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a tool changing mechanism comprising an arm with hands at each end thereof having means to pick up both boring and turning tools. The arm is actuated by hydraulic rotary actuators and the tools are gripped by air operated fingers. A turret assembly is equipped with a boring tool holder and a turning tool holder for the acceptance of tools changed by the changing mechanism.A magazine holds replacement boring bars and turning tools until a tool change is required. An automatic tool lock-unlock mechanism is provided to lock the tools in cutting position.

Abstract: A machine tool of the type wherein a non-rotating cutting tool cuts a workpiece which rotates about a longitudinal axis of rotation. The machine tool includes a block member having the cutting tool attached thereto, the block member being coupled to a housing for radial movement of the block member and cutting tool in response to axial movement of a roller screw spindle internal of the housing.

Abstract: A machine tool of the type having a rotatably mounted housing circumscribing a longitudinal axis of rotation and adapted for having coupled thereto a tool holder having at least one cutting tool which is adjustable radially of the axis such that a cutting edge of the cutting tool is caused to engage and disengage a workpiece as a result of a camming action between the cutting tool and a drawbar resulting from reciprocation of the drawbar as the roller screw to which it is attached rotates.
