  • Patent number: 5115260
Abstract: A cable strain relief device comprises a cable manifold having a pair of generally planar surfaces upon opposite sides thereof formed with a plurality of cable receiving channels extending generally lengthwise along the surfaces. The channels are spaced from one another transversely of the length of the manifold and are formed so as to undulate transversely in a serpentine manner to provide strain relief for cables such as fiber optic cables placed in the channels. The channels are sufficiently deep to permit the placement of two cables in each channel.

  • Patent number: 5113467
Abstract: A Hall effect sensor associated with the receptacle of a laser transmitter module senses the presence of a magnet carried by a fiber-optic connector when the connector is inserted in the receptacle. The output signal from the sensor is used to disable the laser transmitter if the fiber-optic connector is not inserted, providing a safety interlock as well as a positive key against the insertion of incompatible multimode connectors.
