    Abstract: Nucleic acids and unwanted proteins are removed from microbial enzyme extracts by precipitation with water-soluble, cationic polymers comprised of monomers having the structure ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group, or the equivalent and R.sub.2 is a nitrogen containing group capable of carrying a positive electrical charge when the polymer is dissolved in an aqueous solution.
