  • Patent number: 7063537
Abstract: A rotatable assembly and a method to use the same are provided. In particular, the assembly includes a first field device housing arrangement associated with a first electrical system, and a second field device housing arrangement associated with a second electrical system are connected by a connector arrangement. The connector arrangement may include probes (e.g., spring probes) that are adapted to engage with contacts (e.g., electrical contacts), and is configured to allow an unrestricted rotation of the first field device housing arrangement relative to the second field device housing arrangement while maintaining a continuous electrical coupling between the first electrical system and the second electrical system. For example, the assembly can be a field device, such as a smart field device. Two devices may be secured to one another by use of a captive locking screw which can be used to secure the first device in desired positions.

  • Publication number: 20040140772
Abstract: An arrangement and method are provided to avail information visible at an observation location is provided. The arrangement includes a sensor adapted to sense at least one process parameter and a display for providing a visual representation of the at least one process parameter received from the sensor. The sensor can be electrically limited by an intrinsically safe barrier, and is capable of being powered in accordance with a fieldbus protocol. The display is electrically limited by an intrinsically safe barrier, and is capable of being powered in accordance with the fieldbus protocol. The display may include a light producing device for generating light and an intermediary (or light blocking) layer. The intermediary layer can be positioned closer to the observation location than the light producing device, and may be configured to selectively block or reduce the intensity of a portion of the light generated by the light producing device.

  • Publication number: 20040140812
Abstract: An arrangement containing an electrical assembly and a method for cleaning the electrical assembly are provided. In particular, a first portion of the arrangement may be connected to a wall of an enclosure, and a second portion of the arrangement extends from the first portion. In one exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the second portion is adapted to contain the electrical assembly, and when a fluid is dispensed from a position above the arrangement, the fluid contacts substantially the entire second portion in order to clean the electrical assembly. In another exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a housing of the arrangement is connected to the second portion, and the housing and/or the second portion is adapted to contain the electrical assembly. Moreover, when the fluid is dispensed from a position above the arrangement, the fluid contacts substantially the entire housing and/or the entire second portion in order to clean the electrical assembly.

  • Patent number: 6662653
Abstract: An assembly and a method of securing elongated members within the assembly are provided. In particular, one or more particular elongated members which are adapted to contain a particular fluid may be affixed to a temperature-conducting (e.g., metallic) arrangement, and a portion of the assembly may be positioned within a container containing a sample fluid. For example, the temperature-conducting arrangement can be configured to provide the particular elongated member therethrough, and the particular fluid can be a sensor fluid. Further, the temperature-conducting arrangement is affixed to a further elongated member which is configured to provide the temperature-conducting arrangement therethrough. Moreover, the metallic arrangement may maintain a temperature of the particular fluid is provided so that it is substantially the same as a temperature of the sample fluid.
