  • Patent number: 6095332
Abstract: A canister includes a substantially cylindrical body having (i) a sidewall shell; (ii) a transition region; (iii) a dome portion extending from a convex annular portion to define at least a partially closed dome at one end of the body cylinder; (iv) and an opposing, open end of the cylindrical body; and a curved bottom member recessed within and sealed at a periphery thereof to the sidewall shell at the open end of the cylindrical body. An annular, exterior surface portion of the bottom member bears on an annular, exterior surface portion of the transition region thereby forming a space between and within the annular exterior surface portion of the bottom member and an exterior surface of the dome portion when the canister is stacked on a substantially identical canister.

  • Patent number: 6042368
Abstract: An appliance for burning a combustible gas, for example a liquefied petroleum gas. The appliance includes a relatively massive metal body forming a heat sink, in which there is formed a passage for flow of the combustible gas from a feed inlet to a discharge outlet. A control member controls the flow rate of the combustible gas. A mixing member for mixes primary air in with a stream of the combustible gas in a gaseous phase in order to obtained a mixture that can be burned. A burner burns the mixture to be burned, and is in thermal connection with the metal body. The control member includes a pressure reducer, at least partially incorporated into the metal body. The pressure reducer includes a chamber into which the combustible gas is admitted in a liquid phase at high pressure, and a chamber from which the gas is discharged at low pressure, at least partially in the gaseous phase. The chambers are formed in the metal body.

  • Patent number: 5954044
Abstract: A connector is provided for securing a conduit to a fluid source, which source includes a noncircular cylindrical pedestal having a fluid source outlet extending therethrough and an annular groove surrounding the pedestal. The connector includes an inlet port engageable with the fluid source outlet and an outlet port in fluid communication with the inlet port and engageable with the conduit. A collet includes a base, and a plurality of fingers extending from the base substantially parallel to an axis of the inlet port, each finger being disposed a common radial distance from the axis of the inlet port and including a radially extending pawl spaced from the base. An annular cam has a noncircular cylindrical receptacle correspondingly engageable with the noncircular cylindrical pedestal of the fluid source and having an axis coincident with the axis of the inlet port.

  • Patent number: 4971224
Abstract: The present invention relates to a valve and container provided with such a valve, which can be used with portable apparatus using fuel gas, normally operating with piercable cartridges. The valve according to the invention is characterized by the presence of a concave surface on the top of the axial boss of the cup. The corresponding transverse seal assumes the same concave shape as the top of the boss.

  • Patent number: 4258904
Abstract: A valve intended in particular for closing a container of fluid under pressure, more particularly gas in the liquid and/or gaseous phase, which comprises a seat, a movable sealing valve member mounted so as to bear elastically against the said seat, an elastic element forming a spring and having a fixed portion, and another movable portion supporting the said movable valve member, is characterized in that the elastic element is a spring having a shape permitting axial and radial retraction of the movable valve member in relation to the seat.

  • Patent number: 4207934
Abstract: A system of fastening an apparatus on a cartridge of fluid under pressure provided with a dispensing and/or filling valve and an annular bead surrounding the said valve, this fastening system, which comprises:a central core for fastening the said apparatus, comprising fluid dispensing means intended to cooperate with the valve of the said cartridge;a tubular sleeve surrounding the central core, movable axially relative to the latter, and provided with radial claws adapted to clip onto the bead of the cartridge;an annular stop serving as support against the bead of the cartridge;means of axially displacing the tubular sleeve, is characterized in that the annular stop is separate from the tubular sleeve and axially fixed relative to the central core and has an operative face against which the annular bead of the cartridge comes to bear when the said sleeve is displaced axially in the direction of the apparatus.
