  • Patent number: 5257536
Abstract: The probe comprises a wind vane (1) mounted for rotation on the aircraft in order to orient itself in the direction of the flow and provided with a detector (15) for detection of differential pressure representative of the aerodynamic angle of incidence of the wind vane, and a device for determining the orientation of the wind vane with respect to the aircraft. The probe comprises a control loop (14) adapted to cancel out the aerodynamic angle of incidence of the wind vane and controlled by the detector (15). The probe supplies the true angle of incidence of the aircraft directly.

  • Patent number: 5047653
Abstract: A device uses fringe laser diode anemometers which, from the beams coming from one or more laser diodes, form measuring volumes having interference fringes. The component of the relative speed of an aircraft in a direction perpendicular to the plane of these fringes is deduced from the modulation of light reflected by particles moving through the measuring volume to cause modulation of the signal of the photodetector of each anemometer during their passage in the measuring volume of this anemometer. By joining two anemometers with the measuring volumes whose planes of the associated fringes are, for example, orthogonal, it is possible to determine two components of the relative speed vector and determine, for example, this relative speed in the longitudinal vertical plane of the aircraft, and to deduce from it the angle of incidence of the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 5014042
Abstract: A source sends light towards a receiver through an optical channel, a part of which has an interface with the external environment. The light that reaches this interface is reflected towards the receiver when the external environment is in contact with air and is refracted towards the external environment in the presence of water or ice. In streaming down the interface, the rain creates a modulation, not created by ice, in the signal of the receiver. The circuits downline of the receiver search for this modulation to determine whether the modifications of the signal of the receiver are due to rain or to ice.
