  • Patent number: 11419663
Abstract: An electrosurgical instrument (1) is disclosed including a housing (2) comprising an elongate main body (3), extending in an axial direction and a grippable member (12). An implement (4) is fixed relative to and projecting from a forward region of the main body (3). A smoke evacuation passage (8) is defined within the main body (3) and extends from an inlet proximal to the implement (4). An electrical conductor (11) is housed within the housing (2) for supplying an electro-surgical current to the implement (4). The grippable member (12) is slidably connected to the main body (3) such that the axial position of the grippable member (12) relative to the main body (3) may be adjusted in use. Further there is provided a controllable smoke passage obstructor (25) for enabling adjustment of the throughput of the smoke passing through the interior of the housing (2).

  • Publication number: 20210267666
Abstract: A forceps-type electrosurgical device is disclosed comprising, a fixed elongate body and a pair of moveable tips, arranged for engaging tissue in use, and extending from a forward end of the body. The tips are relatively moveable between a first position in which the tips are spaced apart and a second position in which the tips are brought together. The body further comprising an actuation member moveable relative to the body and connected to the tips such that a user may move the actuation member to result in movement of the tips between the first and second positions. The device may further comprise a suction port proximal to the tips.

  • Patent number: 5409355
Abstract: A pump comprises a flexible diaphragm (10) separating a pumping chamber (12) for the fluid to be pumped from a driving chamber (14) for a pressure fluid operating the pump. An outlet (24) for the pressure fluid from the driving chamber is controlled by a valve element (28) that is molded integrally with the diaphragm and with a tension element (36) that draws the valve element to its closing position. Deflection of the diaphragm by the pressure fluid pumps fluid from the pumping chamber and as the deflection increases the valved outlet of the driving chamber is opened against the force of the tension element. Release of the pressure in the driving chamber allows the valve to close again and the tension element ensures that it returns to a position sealing the driving chamber outlet.

  • Patent number: 5281108
Abstract: A diaphragm pump comprising a pumping chamber (10) is operated by a continuous flow of pressure gas to a driving chamber (12) separated from the pumping chamber by a flexible diaphragm (8 or 52). Deflection of the diaphragm by the gas pressure drives liquid out of the pumping chamber. The driving chamber has a normally closed outlet valve (30 or 54) connected to the diaphragm through a flexible or lost-motion connection (34, 36 or 56) so that the valve is opened after a certain deflection of the diaphragm. The driving chamber pressure is thereby released and allows the diaphragm to return, drawing further liquid into the pumping chamber. The return movement of the diaphragm also allows the valve to reclose and the cycle is repeated while the supply of pressure gas to the driving chamber is maintained.
