  • Patent number: 4808949
Abstract: A hyperfrequency circulator is provided in which the gyrator is integrated in the wave-guide, comprising a wave-guide whose two main faces are pierced with two holes, aligned with the center of symmetry of the junction. Through these holes a one-piece gyrator passes formed by at least one magnet, a pole piece, a solid dielectric resonator and a second pole piece. The gyrator is cylindrical in shape, and the pole pieces each have a flange of the same diameter as the holes in the wave-guide, the cooling plates immobilizing the one piece gyrator in the wave-guide.

  • Patent number: 4733202
Abstract: A device for coupling between an electromagnetic surface wave device (OSEL), operating in a symmetrical field distribution mode and an external microstrip line operating in a disymmetric mode. Coupling between the access microstrip to the surface wave device and the external microstrip is provided by means of three line elements made from dielectric materials, held in position by three non magnetic metal parts, forming a transition between symmetric and disymmetric modes in steps:electromagnetic surface wave mode, a symmetric mode of the surface wave device, three plate mode, microstrip mode with reactance matching, disymmetric microstrip mode of the external microstrip line.

  • Patent number: 4698604
Abstract: A nonreciprocal microwave device for surface electromagnetic waves (SEW waves) as applicable to isolators which provide high isolation comprises a flat metallic core, part of which is placed between two plates of gyromagnetic material and part of which is placed between two absorption loads. Parasitic volume waves are generated by resonance but resonance of waves of higher modes is prevented by forming in the core at least one zone for strong coupling with the SEW waves which propagate in the direction opposite to the low-loss direction at the edge of the core opposite to the edge at which the SEW wave propagates in the forward direction.

  • Patent number: 4457464
Abstract: In a method for fixing a ferrite to a metal piece such as a pole-piece of a magnetic polarizing circuit of a microwave device, a first step consists in depositing a nonresistive metal on the ferrite face to be fixed. A second step consists in applying a very thin layer of heat-conducting adhesive on the metallized ferrite face and bonding the ferrite to the metal piece, thus ensuring low thermal resistance, very low insertion loss and high power capability.

  • Patent number: 4374367
Abstract: A phase-shifting device for microwave frequencies is constituted by a section of a rectangular waveguide, the two large walls of the waveguide being each adapted to carry two strips of gyromagnetic material placed on each side of a strip of dielectric material. Each strip is formed by an array of small plates bonded to the waveguide walls and to each other by means of an insulating silicone adhesive.

  • Patent number: 4280111
Abstract: The invention relates to a structure for a wave-guide power circulator. It consists of a cavity in which emerge the three guides and into which soft iron pole pieces penetrate in contact with their end inside the cavity with gyromagnetic chips and with their wall outside the cavity with a cooling device. The invention applies to all power circulators in the ultra-high frequency band.

  • Patent number: 4236125
Abstract: In a circulator using strip technology a high thermal conductivity through the piled up parts is obtained by use of heat conductive insulating grease layers between the parts which include a solid machined metal cap surrounding the gyromagnetic pellets and broad banding circuits between the ports and earthed contacts on the strip substrate, the capacitor of which uses said cap as an electrode. The outside of said cap is cylindrical, the inside hexagonal.

  • Patent number: 4186357
Abstract: A stripline non-reciprocal multi-octave phase shifter which consists of a matched dielectric slab located along the first ferrite slab edge which corresponds to the magnetic wall and of lumped loads placed along the propagation direction along the same edge of the second ferrite slab. The other edge of the slabs are associated with identical composite media terminated by a lump impedance which consists of a short-circuit between the three conductors in the preferred embodiment of the invention. A high permittivity dielectric slab near the other edge of each of the ferrite slabs is preferably part of said composite media.

  • Patent number: 4152677
Abstract: In a surface wave isolator consisting of two gyromagnetic slabs a conductive strip between said slabs, means to establish a magnetizing field within said slabs, a two part load is associated side by side with said slabs and the strip extends also between the two parts of the load. A first part of the load is a continuous load parallel to the strip, a second part of the load is a plurality of localized absorbing means placed along the propagation axis and parallel to said strip. The impedance of the localized absorbing means is matched to the impedance of an unwanted parasitic propagation mode at the corresponding place.

  • Patent number: 4031489
Abstract: A high level broadband VHF isolator using surface propagation made of the waves comprises two gyromagnetic slabs on both sides of a planar metal sheet acting as a double mode transformer or wave launcher between the two terminals of the isolator and the gyromagnetic medium and magnetizing means. The width of the mode transformer is smaller than that of the slabs and radiating slots are provided along at least one side parallel to the propagation direction. The magnetizing field value corresponds to the gyromagnetic resonance at the mid-frequency of the operating band in the neighborhood of the slots and lower elsewhere. Magnetic means are provided to compensate for the temperature variation of the ferrite properties.
