  • Patent number: 9225848
Abstract: The method of operating a network includes receiving a measurement of total traffic intensity, receiving an expected quality of service associated with a packet, and assigning the packet to one of two or more priority queues based on the measurement of total traffic intensity and the expected quality of service, the two or more priority queues having different delay metrics.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 6, 2013
Date of Patent: December 29, 2015
    Assignee: Alcatel Lucent
Inventors: Chris Ng, Marcos Tavares, Reinaldo Valenzuela, Gerard Foschini

  • Patent number: 8811246
Abstract: A wireless communication system includes at least one first relay configured to forward data received from at least one of a plurality of base stations, and to reduce intra-cell interference between a plurality of sectors of the plurality of base stations.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 13, 2012
Date of Patent: August 19, 2014
    Assignee: Alcatel Lucent
Inventors: Antonia Tulino, Gerard Foschini, Reinaldo A. Valenzuela
  • Publication number: 20140024336
Abstract: In one embodiment, the method includes determining serving time instants for serving each of a plurality of data requests received during a time period such that at least one peak data traffic load for the time period is reduced to a value less than or equal to a target data traffic load. The method further includes determining a magnitude of a difference between a time instant in which a data request is received and the corresponding serving time instant. The method further includes setting a subscriber price for the time instant in which the data request is received based on the determined magnitude. The method further includes offering the subscriber price to at least one subscriber in order that the at least one subscriber may one of delay and advance at least one data request by at least one time instant.
