Patent number: 7120943Abstract: An affordable plumbing device that uses a compressed gas and a burst disk having a relatively even surface of substantially uniform thickness to produce a sudden discharge of energy to forcibly act against any obstruction that may interfere with the proper function of a drain. The plumbing device has a cylindrical chamber for receiving the compressed gas and may generally take the shape of a plunger, which is flexible to use and is easy to store. A portion of the chamber forms a receiving chamber with the burst disk for harnessing and directing the energy of the compressed gas to clear the drain.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2005Date of Patent: October 17, 2006Assignee: M.A.G. Engineering & Mfg. Co.Inventors: Howard M. Allenbaugh, David M. Turchik, Gerard G. Adelmeyer

Patent number: 6568727Abstract: A collar coacts with a chassis, sleeve and lever of a lockset to provide a retention and reinforcement system for lock assemblies. The collar has a flanged portion and a sleeve-engaging portion and is sandwiched between a lever and the cylinder. The sleeve-engaging portion includes at least one tab that engages the sleeve to retain the collar on the sleeve. Alternatively, the collar can be staked to the sleeve. A spring washer can be mounted between the collar and the chassis to take up variation in manufacturing tolerances. The result is a retention and reinforcement system that provides a protection against attack in the zone of attack around the handle-chassis interface.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2001Date of Patent: May 27, 2003Assignee: Newfrey LLCInventor: Gerard G. Patent number: 6412319Abstract: A keyed knob assembly (10) having a knob portion (12), a knob insert (14) partially received within a bore (18) formed in the knob portion (12) and a shank portion (16) partially covering the knob insert (14) is disclosed. A throughbore (48) formed in the knob insert (14) is provided which operably supports a locking cylinder assembly (42). An axial channel (50) formed in the shank portion (16) terminates at a radial slot (52) to provide a means for releasably coupling the knob, assembly (10) of the present invention to a catch (54) of a lever catch subassembly associate with the chassis of the lockset.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2000Date of Patent: July 2, 2002Assignee: Emhart LLCInventors: Gerard G. Patent number: 5996383Abstract: An electronic module which is located between the plug cover and the front flange of the cylinder body has light and motion sensors that look out through holes in the cover. Whenever it is dark and a person approaches the lockset a light will be turned on to illuminate a translucent ring that surrounds the keyway.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1996Date of Patent: December 7, 1999Assignee: Emhart, Inc.Inventors: Gerard G. Adelmeyer, Joseph J. Fata, Charles E. Babb

Patent number: 5761935Abstract: A weatherproof casing for a padlock having a body and a shackle. A lower casing includes a body, a bottom cap having a flat bottom and an annular wall projecting therefrom, and a strap connecting the body and the bottom cap. The casing body includes an upper portion conforming to the shape of the padlock body and open at the top for receiving the body of the padlock, and an upper casing in the form of a cap having an annular downwardly projecting flange defining an opening for receiving the top of the lower casing body. The lower casing body additionally includes an enlarged flange at the bottom defining a second opening for receiving the annular wall of the bottom cap. The strap extends between the side of the bottom of the bottom cap and the side of the enlarged flange proximate the top thereof.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 1997Date of Patent: June 9, 1998Assignee: Emhart Inc.Inventor: Gerard G. Adelmeyer

Patent number: 5761937Abstract: An auxiliary lock comprises a latch assembly having an elongated casing to be received by a first horizontal bore extending into the end of the door. A cylinder mechanism is received by a second horizontal thru bore extending, from one face of the door to the other face of the door and intersecting the first bore. The cylinder mechanism includes a cylinder having a chimney, a cylindrical guard having an annular door engaging surface, an annular lip projecting inwardly from the annular door engaging surface to be received by the second thru bore, a cylindrical segment projecting inwardly from the annular lip, and a strut projecting radially upwardly from one circumferential end of the segment and defining therewith a shaped structure. The strut has a length selected so that the shaped structure lies proximate the bottom of the casing to thereby prevent the rotation of the said guard.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 1996Date of Patent: June 9, 1998Assignee: Emhart Inc.Inventor: Gerard G. Adelmeyer
