  • Publication number: 20120122801
Abstract: The invention relates to glycoside-compound conjugates for use in antisense strategies and/or gene therapy. The conjugates comprise a glycoside linked to a compound, in which the glycoside is a ligand capable of binding to a mannose-6-phosphate receptor of a muscle cell. For example the cells are muscle cells of a Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) patient and the conjugate comprises an antisense oligonucleotide which causes ex on skipping and induces or restores the synthesis of dystrophin or variants thereof.

  • Publication number: 20110294753
Abstract: The invention provides means and methods for alleviating one or more symptom(s) of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and/or Becker Muscular Dystrophy. Therapies using compounds for providing patients with functional muscle proteins are combined with at least one adjunct compound for reducing inflammation, preferably for reducing muscle tissue inflammation, and/or at least one adjunct compound for improving muscle fiber function, integrity and/or survival.

  • Publication number: 20100184948
Abstract: The invention provides conjugates, comprising an organ, tissue or tumor cell homing molecule linked to a moiety. Such a moiety can be, for example, an oligonucleotide, small interfering RNA, gene, virus, protein, pharmaceutical or detectable agent. In addition the invention provides methods to diagnose or treat a pathology of the muscle or heart, by administrating to a subject having or suspected of having a pathology a molecule or conjugate that homes to, binds to and is taken up by the muscle cells or heart cells.

  • Publication number: 20100184947
Abstract: The invention provides conjugates, comprising an organ, tissue or tumor cell homing molecule linked to a moiety. Such a moiety can be, for example, an oligonucleotide, small interfering RNA, gene, virus, protein, pharmaceutical or detectable agent. In addition the invention provides methods to diagnose or treat neuronal or neuromuscular disease, or a pathology of the brain, or a tumor of neuronal or neuroectodermal origin, by administrating to a subject having or suspected of having a pathology a molecule or conjugate that homes to, binds to and is taken up by the brain cells or neuronal cells, or by the tumor cells of neuronal or neuroectodermal origin. The invention also provides a method of identifying and measuring neurite growth in neuronal cells.

  • Publication number: 20100184833
Abstract: The current invention provides for methods and medicaments that apply oligonucleotide molecules complementary only to a repetitive sequence in a human gene transcript, for the manufacture of a medicament for the diagnosis, treatment or prevention of a cis-element repeat instability associated genetic disorders in humans. The invention hence provides a method of treatment for cis-element repeat instability associated genetic disorders. The invention also pertains to modified oligonucleotides which can be applied in method of the invention to prevent the accumulation and/or translation of repeat expanded transcripts in cells.
