  • Patent number: 6081559
Abstract: The invention relates to apparatus for detecting the presence or the absence of a signal carrier wave received by a receiver. The carrier wave is modulated by a digital signal at a symbol clock frequency. According to the invention, the apparatus includes:a non-linear circuit receiving the received signal or the received signal after it has been frequency transposed, the non-linear circuit supplying in particular a signal whose frequency corresponds to the symbol clock frequency;a narrow-band filter centered on the symbol clock frequency and supplying a filtered signal;detection means for detecting the filtered signal and for supplying a detection signal; andcomparator means for comparing the detection signal with a reference value, the output signal from the comparator means constituting a signal indicating the presence or the absence of the carrier wave.

  • Patent number: 5760645
Abstract: A demodulator stage for direct demodulation of a phase quadrature modulated signal provides two baseband signals and comprises a matched 900.degree. coupler to which the modulated signal is fed and supplying two phase quadrature modulated signals. Two low-noise amplifiers with identical specifications each receive one of the phase quadrature modulated signals and supply an amplified signal. Two mixers each receive one of the amplified signals and a common local oscillator signal and supply the baseband signals. The 90.degree. coupler, the low-noise amplifiers and the two mixers can be integrated into the same MMIC. One application is to a receiver for frequency evasive phase quadrature modulated signals.

  • Patent number: 4952573
Abstract: Compounds which enhance the efficiency of the corneal endothelial fluid pump thereby promoting normal corneal function and deturgescence of swollen corneas, and methods for the compounds' synthesis are described. In addition, surgical irrigating solutions which include one or more of the compounds are discussed along with methods for their use.

  • Patent number: 4897412
Abstract: Antiglaucoma compounds having beta adrenoreceptor antagonist properties and alpha adrenoreceptor antagonist properties are described. The compounds comprise a beta blocker-derived moiety designed to provide beta antagonist properties and an imidazolidine moiety designed to provide alpha-antagonist properties. Methods of synthesizing the compounds are also described. The compounds are useful in the treatment of glaucoma due to their ability to lower elevated intraocular pressure.

  • Patent number: 4766151
Abstract: Glaucoma can be treated by the application to the eye of a physiologically active amount of a compound of the formula ##STR1## in which: each of R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 is selected from hydrogen, and alkyl, alkenyl and cycloalkyl radicals, or R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together with the carbon between them are a cycloalkylidene radical,R.sub.2 is a lower alkyl radical, and the salts thereof with pharmaceutically acceptable acids, in an opthamologically accepted carrier therefor, which when liquid and an isotonic agent is present can have the form of an eye lotion. The 1-N-tert.-butylamino derivatives of 3-(cyclopropyl-methyl-ketone-oximino)-propan-2-ol, 3-(dicyclopropyl-ketone-oximino)-propan-2-ol, and 3-(3,3,5-trimethylcyclohexane-1-ketone-oximino)-propan-2-ol are novel compounds within such formula specifically useful for such treatment.

  • Patent number: 4330496
Abstract: A tubular ceramic part is formed with a shoulder at an open end of the part, the tubular part is inserted in an opening provided in a horizontal plate which is disposed inside a sintering chamber so that the part is kept suspended in the chamber by means of the shoulder which rests against the edge of the opening, a shouldered cylindrical plug is inserted into the open end of the tubular part until the shoulder of the plug bears against the end of the tubular part, and the chamber is brought to sintering temperature. The invention is implemented to produce solid beta sodium alumina electrolyte tubes for sodium-sulphur electric cells.
