  • Patent number: 4886299
Abstract: A protective book cover of transparent plastic is formed with a strengthened spine section provided by a combination of a spine reinforcing strip and decreased height of the spine section of the protective cover. The book cover receiving pockets of the protective cover are formed with inwardly convex slant-cut edges to facilitate insertion of the book covers, and a card pocket is formed in one of the pockets by a slant-cut slit that is convex upwardly to provide an easily accessible opening. A heat weld seam forming the front and back cover pockets is provided with sharp rectangular inside corners for a closer fit of the protective cover to the book. The protective cover is adjustable for book width by forming it of a primary or outside panel that is scored for separation of a back cover portion which may be adjustably positioned and adhesively secured to a front cover portion.

  • Patent number: 4863093
Abstract: A portfolio presentation folder is made of a single blank sheet of cardboard for custom decoration and instant assembly by the user in a home, school or office environment. The blank sheet is separable into a pocket part and a front cover part so that the latter may be separately and independently decorated by standard office machines, desk-top publishing equipment, etc., or by hand. Both parts are provided with cutouts forming handle flaps and handle openings arranged for registry with one another so as to provide strong, multi-layered handle regions when the cover and pocket parts are connected to one another after the pocket part has been folded to form a pocket.

  • Patent number: 4800110
Abstract: A binder strip for home or office use in binding document pages includes a binder sheet having a full back cover section and a narrow front cover attaching flange section with a spine section interposed between the two. The spine section is provided with a number of closely adjacent beads of hot melt glue and the attaching flange section has a strip of peel-off pressure sensitive adhesive affixed to a free edge thereof. A front cover for the binder is totally separate from the binder and initially may not even be a part of the binder. The front cover is processed by any suitable home or office copier, embossing, foil stamping, color printing or like machine capable of custom processing a single sheet of ordinary document size. The processed cover is then attached to the attaching flange by means of the pressure sensitive adhesive.

  • Patent number: 4457585
Abstract: A clear, transparent, rigid plastic sheet is bent into an inverted U-shape to provide a top supported by continuous transparent legs. A fresnel lens, coextensive with the top, is secured to the top or actually formed in one of its surfaces to provide a hand-free, self-supporting large area magnifier capable of use in reading a complete printed page with little or no shifting of the magnifier. For various scientific and other purposes, scales, grids, or other reference marks or patterns are carried on transparent elements secured to the bottoms of the legs where they are likewise magnified for counting or measuring or other large area analysis, or study of a full page or document being read.
