  • Patent number: 9302749
Abstract: A non-self-propelled, floatable structure for supporting people, animals, machinery or other loads is disclosed, having a floatable body designed to float on water, and a retention skirt that protrudes downwardly from a peripheral edge of the floatable body. The retention skirt is designed to extend underwater, delimiting an internal space between the retention skirt, the floatable body, and the water. The retention skirt is airtight, preventing air passing through the skirt and towards said internal space. Thus, when a downward force is applied on an edge of the floatable body causing the opposite edge to start rising from the water, skirt airtightness beneath the rising edge creates a vacuum effect that stops the edge from rising and prevents the floating structure from swaying excessively and eventually turning over or capsizing. The retention skirt also limits or prevents lateral and transverse motion across the water surface.

  • Publication number: 20140336610
Abstract: Methods and devices for delivering variable amounts of a drug formulation directly from a drug delivery device without requiring point of use reconstitution as a separate mixing step are described herein. These methods and devices increase the convenience, speed and simplicity of administration of drug formulations. The devices mix two or more components in a constant mixing ratio effectively simultaneous to administration, and allow for variable doses while retaining the desired ratio of the components in each dose. The devices are particularly useful for administering drug formulations that are unstable at room temperature in liquid form. The methods described herein generally use conventional devices that have been modified to administer an unstable compound and provide acceptable storage stability. Typical devices include infusion sets, pump reservoirs, syringes, pens, vials and cartridges.

The first diluter comprises a vessel having at least one inlet, and an outlet, the at least one inlet being arranged to receive diluent so as to mix said sample with said diluent. The second diluter comprises a sample input, a diluent inlet and an output, the diluent input being arranged such that diluent entering the second diluter experiences a pressure drop. The pressure drop is sufficient to entrain at least a portion of diluted sample from the first diluter through the sample input. The outlet of the first diluter is arranged to be in communication with the input of the second diluter such that a sample that has been pre-diluted in the first diluter is arranged to be further diluted in the second diluter.

  • Patent number: 6837085
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for transverse ultrasound peening of blades (2) on a rotor which consists in driving in rotation the wheel (3) bearing the blades (2) about its geometrical axis (6) arranged substantially vertically and in causing the blades (2) to pass through a mist of microbeads produced by a vibrating surface (20) in an active chamber (12) arranged laterally relative to the wheel. The active surface (20) is located beneath the path of the blades (2). Preferably, the active chamber (12) comprises a second vibrating surface above the path of the blades (2). The invention also concerns a machine for implementing said method.

  • Publication number: 20040244195
Abstract: A method for making a blade ring includes producing an outer shell of a blade ring by setting a blank using a plasma-forming process on a frame that is then removed. The tips of the blades are well embedded in the ferrule independently of their profile, such that the aerodynamic performances do not deteriorate.

  • Patent number: 6336844
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and machine for so-called “ultrasonic” peening employing a mist of microbeads inside an active chamber 30c for peening parts 21 on a wheel 19, ie blades on a rotator. The periphery of the wheel 19 is brought simultaneously past the openings of at least three chambers with limited clearances E1 and E2. At least one chamber being active with a peening mist of microbeads and at least two chambers, either side of the active chamber, being passive. The wheel being rotated over the chambers and the microbeads are removed from the passive chambers and in that the active chambers are supplied with microbeads therefrom.

  • Patent number: 6289705
Abstract: A method of so-called “ultrasonic” peening is described for peening large sized annular surfaces on thin parts. The method uses a microbead mist vibrated in a chamber with an opening so that the surface that is to be peened makes at least five movements past the opening of the peening chamber during peening so as to reduce deformation of the part.

  • Patent number: 6132857
Abstract: A high-strength hybrid component including a relatively soft first part made of a composite material including an organic matrix reinforced with fibers, a relatively hard second part made of metal, metal alloy, or ceramic, and a transition layer made of a composite material including a matrix of a material that is weldable to the hard part and fibers that are extensions of the fibers of the soft part. The transition layer matrix and the hard part may be formed by deposition of molten material on to the fiber preform of the soft part using flame, electric arc, or plasma. The resin matrix of the soft part is impregnated into the preform and polymerized afterwards. Alternatively, the hard part may be machined to shape and welded to the transition layer before completing the soft part.
