  • Patent number: 7962740
Abstract: The invention provides a system that preserves the synchronization of the audio and video presented at a secure conferencing site without necessitating decryption, decompression, compression, and encryption of signals at the hub. The presently preferred embodiment of the invention provides an apparatus and method for synchronizing audio and video in encrypted videoconferences that comprises a plurality of conference sites; and a hub for receiving a compressed and encrypted, composite audio and video signal from each site, for determining a currently active site, and for transmitting said composite audio and video signal from said currently active site to all other sites; said hub receiving a compressed and encrypted audio only signal from each site; wherein said hub routes all incoming compressed and encrypted audio only signals to each site.

  • Publication number: 20090018895
Abstract: A technique for correlating purchasing behavior of a consumer with advertisements to which the consumer has been exposed. The technique includes monitoring exposure of said consumer to advertisements to produce an advertisement monitoring signal, photographing an image related to an item purchased by the consumer to produce image data, processing the image data to derive consumer purchase data, and correlating the consumer purchase data with the advertisement monitoring signal.

  • Patent number: 6631165
Abstract: A method (100) and apparatus (400) for encoding and decoding data in a signal using notch depth modulation. The method (100) of data to be encoded in the signal. The method then notch filters (125) the signal according to the frequency notch representation of the data. The apparatus (400) for encoding data comprises an digitizer (405) to digitize the signal. A code former (420) provides the data to be encoded in the signal. A notch filter (430) notch filters the signal according to the data. Decoding the data converts the signal into a frequency domain representation (520) and determines the notch spectral content (525) of the signal at selected notch frequencies. The method (500) establishes notch thresholds (534) at each of the selected notch frequencies, then decodes the data (540) from the signal by comparing the notch spectral content to the notch thresholds.

  • Patent number: 6522658
Abstract: A method is provided for discriminating and routing data packets in a satellite-based communication system (10), comprising the steps of: (a) receiving an input data stream from an application residing on a transmitting device (12); (b) selecting either a first spread spectrum code or a second spread spectrum code based on the quality of service (QOS) requirements associated with the first application; (c) applying the selected spread spectrum code to the input data stream, thereby generating a spread spectrum data stream; (d) transmitting the spread spectrum data stream from the transmitting device (12) to a network routing device (14); (e) correlating the spread spectrum data stream with the corresponding selected spread spectrum code to recover the original input data stream; and (f) routing the input data stream to either a low earth orbiting satellite (16) when the first spread spectrum code is used to recover the input data signal or to a geosynchronous orbiting satellite (18) when the second spread spe
