  • Patent number: 4180125
Abstract: A cabinet type enclosure, preferably in the form of a cart, which is adapted to be connected to a source of refrigeration for refrigerating a plurality of food items on a plurality of meal trays positioned in the enclosure has a plurality of thin, generally horizontal fixedly mounted heater shelf members extending into the enclosed space from one side wall thereof. The heater shelf members are adapted to be moved relative to and under hot food containers positioned on the trays to heat same. The enclosure also has pairs of tray guides on its opposing side walls. The meal trays have integral transverse abutment means which extend over a portion of the tray surface at a location above the surface.

  • Patent number: 4040661
Abstract: A tilting, adjustable passenger seat back is provided with an angularly adjustable upper headrest section which has tilting linkage and a hinge connection to the upper part of the seat back such that when the back is in a generally upright position, the headrest section is back and out of the way of a passenger's head and shoulders; however, when the seat back is moved to a recline position, the headrest section will rotate forward to provide support for the head while the passenger is in the recline position. A modified construction also has additional linkage which provides for a lumbar support that moves along with recline movement to be primarily effective to adjust seat back cushioning for upright positioning of the seat back and out of the way for the recline position.

  • Patent number: 4019779
Abstract: Laminated cushion formed of a plurality of alternating, relatively rigid and relatively soft layers of resilient foam has a higher compression rate in the direction of an axis parallel to the planes of the layers than in the transverse direction. Thus, when the cushion is positioned with the planes of the layers arranged vertically, the cushion is usable as an armrest. When it is positioned with the planes of the layers arranged horizontally, it is usable as a pillow. In a modification, the cushion can be added to the side of a conventional armrest on an aircraft passenger seat to increase the width thereof while being easily compressed sideways to accommodate larger framed passengers.

  • Patent number: 4018477
Abstract: In order to provide seating comfort for different sized passengers, the front or leading edge of the seat cushion section of the vehicle seating unit is made to be raised and lowered to a limited degree by being provided with underlying hinged supporting means and a movable transverse lift bar member which is mounted to be movable through an arcuate path that can, in turn, adjustably raise and lower the front portion of the seat cushion section. For adjustment purposes, the transverse lift bar member can be attached to and made to extend from a pivoted arm member mounted in a manner to move in an arc and in a generally vertical plane along the side of the seating unit.

  • Patent number: 3985388
Abstract: A special form of adjustable height seat, such as would be used for a pilot or crew member in a plane or helicopter, provides a generally vertical mounting arrangement for positioning of a seat height adjuster between a fixed height seat base and a slidable unitary seating section. In addition, the height adjuster means is provided with an energy absorption connection for at least one end portion thereof by having a movable portion in alignment with and available to be forced through a restricted section in the event of a crash landing situation.

  • Patent number: 3968992
Abstract: Navigation table attachable by an arm to the base of an aircraft seat can be folded to a storage position beside the seat when not in use. The table surface comprises the top of a box which can be used for the storage of maps or papers. The box is mounted so that it can be easily removed from the seat and used by the pilot like a small attache case to transport maps and other materials to and from the aircraft. A plurality of adjustments on the table mounting arm permit the table surface to have its surface angle varied in addition to being movable, sideways, up and down and fore and aft.

  • Patent number: 3936093
Abstract: A footrest plate member is attached to two laterally spaced apart telescoping tube members that are pivotally attached to the upper underside portion of seat unit framing such that the lowered, pulled-out location of the footrest plate can be adjusted to suit a passenger in a next rearward seating unit. Push-button operated latching means is provided at the rear of a seating unit and is designed and arranged to provide for the stowing and releasing of the footrest assembly by a person located to the rear of the supporting and stowing seating unit.
