  • Publication number: 20190092686
Abstract: A composition and method for making composite fibers used in the reinforcement of concrete is provided. The composite fibers comprise a plurality of silica-coated glass fibers. The silica particles provide an improved interface between the composite fibers and the concrete matrix.

  • Patent number: 10017419
Abstract: Composite fibers and methods of manufacturing composite fibers for the reinforcement of concrete are provided. The composite fibers include fibers and a polymeric coating. The composite fibers have a length of about 10 mm to about 80 mm and an equivalent diameter from about 0.3 mm to about 2 mm. A method for reinforcing concrete using the composite fibers is further provided.

  • Publication number: 20150166830
Abstract: The present invention relates to, a sizing composition for reinforcing glass fiber strands, which comprises a silane coupling agent, a polyurethane film-forming agent including a blocked isocyanate and water. The invention also relates to glass fiber strands onto which the sizing composition has been applied, and to concrete reinforced with said glass fiber strands.

  • Publication number: 20090169881
Abstract: A method for producing a rough elongate composite element, and a rough elongate composite element formed by the method. In the method, introduced simultaneously into a sheathing device are an essentially solid cord based on an organic material and reinforcing yarns as well as a mixture including a molten thermoplastic and at least one of the following constituents: a reinforcement and a filler, the cord being pulled by a haul-off mechanism downstream from the sheathing device. The cord is sheathed by forming a layer of the adherent mixture onto the cord, the roughness of the sheath formed in this way being created by the sheathed cord leaving the sheathing device.

  • Patent number: 5470658
Abstract: Glass fibers are coated with a sizing composition comprising an aqueous emulsion based on at least one polyolefin having grafted thereon at least one acid or anhydride which is neutralized by at least one alcoholamine, at least one aminosilane coupling agent, and at least one primary, secondary or tertiary aliphatic monoamine stabilizing agent which is miscible with water and which has a pK.sub.b value lower than the pK.sub.b value of the amine group of the coupling agent, plus 1.The glass fibers of the invention are intended more particularly for reinforcing polyolefin matrices such as polypropylene matrices.
