  • Patent number: 6465377
Abstract: A fabric for reinforcement of canvasses having a plastic coating includes a warp and a weft which form meshes. The meshes have a maximum dimension ranging from 5 cm to 30 cm with at least one of the warp or the weft being formed by a strip which comprises a matrix of a thermoplastic material which is adherable to the plastic coating of the canvasses. The strip includes two or more elongated metal members and has a cross-sectional average thickness ranging from 0.50 mm to 3.0 mm and a cross-sectional width ranging from 3 mm to 25 mm. The metal members provide the canvasses sufficient resistance against the cutting action of a knife or against the action of a pair of shears.

  • Publication number: 20020136870
Abstract: A fabric (20) for reinforcement of canvasses having a plastic coating. The fabric (20) comprises a warp (22) and a weft (24) which form meshes having a maximum dimension ranging from 5 cm to 25 cm. At least one of the warp or the weft is formed by a strip (10) which comprises a matrix of a thermoplastic material (12) which is adherable to the plastic coating of the canvasses This strip further comprises two or more elongated metal members (14). This strip has a cross-sectional average thickness ranging from 0.50 mm to 3.0 mm and a cross-sectional width ranging from 3 mm to 25 mm. The strip and the fabric allow to reinforce the canvass in a cheaply way without adding too much additional weights.

  • Patent number: 6276120
Abstract: A push-pull steel cable (10) comprises a core (12) and an outer layer of filaments (16) twisted around the core (12). The cable (10) is provided with an external coating (20) of polyethylene terephthalate. The coating (20) gives to the cable (10) a good resistance against corrosion, a good weatherability, a good adhesion and adhesion retention and a friction resistance which is comparable to the friction resistance of a cable with a nylon coating. The cable (10) can be used as a brake cable, a shifting lever cable or a window elevator cable.

  • Patent number: 5408560
Abstract: A communication cable (10) comprises optical fibres (24) and/or metal conductors (20) for the transmission of information, and a tensile member, the tensile member comprising a steel strand and synthetic material. The steel strand has a modulus of elasticity of at least 140 000 N/mm.sup.2. The steel strand comprises a core wire (12) and one layer of layer wires (14) surrounding the core wire. A contact is provided between the layer wires and the core wire. The interstices between the layer wires and the core wire are filled with a first synthetic material (13) having a melting-point above 150.degree. C. The steel strand is covered by a layer of a second synthetic material (16). The filling with the first synthetic material and the covering by a layer of a second synthetic material is such that watertightness is obtained in the longitudinal direction of the tensile member.
