  • Patent number: 5812548
Abstract: In a known communication system, synchronous and asynchronous traffic is exchanged between stations using a common communication path, wherein the communication system includes a complicated controlling mechanism for controlling fair allocation of asynchronous traffic. A communication system as disclosed herein includes a simple fairness mechanism for fair allocation of asynchronous traffic to the stations without a scheduler being necessary. To this end, the communication system exchanges information between the stations via the communication path in a frame of synchronous time slots and an asynchronous time slot, the synchronous time slots including an access bit for demanding access to the asynchronous time slot. All stations monitor all access bits of the other stations and set their own access bit in accordance with a set of fairness rules.

  • Patent number: 5450396
Abstract: An integrated services communication system ISDN in which a plurality of ISDN supported terminal stations can be coupled to an S.sub.0 bus coupled to a private branch exchange, of which a maximum of 2 terminal stations can be active over B-channels. Them is proposed also to connect incompletely ISDN supported terminal stations to the S.sub.0 bus, which stations have many non-ISDN supported features, there being investigated on line cards which type of terminal station is connected. On the basis of a Terminal Endpoint Identifier (TEI) in a layer-2 message, either a standard ISDN protocol is handled from layer-2 onwards, or a firm-owned protocol.

  • Patent number: 5418838
Abstract: A cordless telephony system includes a switching exchange having a conventional switch which may be coupled to the public network. To avoid loading of such switch, the exchange also includes a backbone coupling network coupled to cluster controllers for respective clusters of base stations. Such network transports data between the cluster controllers during handover of a roaming mobile telephone set between different base stations. The system may be used as a private branch exchange operating with a central controller. The cluster controllers may be in the form of line cards which communicate with each other via the backbone coupling network, control being effected in a decentralized mode.

  • Patent number: 5297145
Abstract: A digital subscriber line circuit for connecting an ISDN subscriber to the trunk side of a digital exchange which comprises an SLD interface operating according to the SLD system. The subscriber line circuit further includes a transfer arrangement for transferring, during a transfer time window, data signals between incoming and outgoing time slots of the SL line of the SLD interface and time slots assigned thereto of outgoing or incoming trunks of the digital exchange. The subscriber line circuit comprises a slip detection means for detecting an incoming or outgoing trunk time slot slipping out of the transfer time window. The slip detection means controls a slip correction means which controls the transfer arrangement in response to the detection of a slip, so that data are skipped in one transfer direction and data are repeated in the other transfer direction.

  • Patent number: 4486878
Abstract: Digital telephone exchange comprising a plurality of peripheral control domains PCD which are either connected to a digital trunk network DTN or are directly interconnected. Each domain comprises several digital subscriber interface units DSI, a group of digital subscriber sets SS being connected to each interface unit. The transmission of information over the subscriber line is effected in a b-channel for speech (64 kb/s) a b'-channel for circuit-switched data (0/8/64 kb/s) and a .DELTA.-channel for packet-switched data (8/16 kb/s).The subscriber line interface circuits SLIC comprise means (166) for identifying the packet-switched data signals and to apply them to a packet processing unit PPU. In this unit the packets are distinguished as firstly signalling information (s) and secondly telemetry and slow data (t+d').
