    Abstract: The present invention provides a floor patching and leveling compound ingredient which provides a desired, smooth finish for a floor surface, the resultant floor and a method of making the same. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the component includes about by weight of a dispersing agent, about 0.5 to 1.0% by weight of an alkali tartrate, and about 0.8 to 1.3% by weight of an alkali carbonate with this component being employed in the mortar in a proportion of about up to 6% of the mortar on a weight basis.
